I wouldn't say anything though, because I know she just loves her granddaughter. My FIL on the other hand, is constantly trying to bring our dog home with him and says things like "he's happier with us, he's our dog too, it's terrible here, he wants to come to our home, etc." and that drives me batty. If he wants a dog so bad, he should get one himself! I like that our families all feel protective/ownership of this baby. I think of it as "our baby" too! But I already know I'm lucky not to have the same level of insanity some of you all experience with in-laws. My mom already has 7 bio grandchildren and 2 "adopted" (not really, but she has younger friends with no parents in their lives, so their children call my mom grandma, too) g-kids. She has done this the whole time but to me it is endearing. She has 4 kids of her own and was really excited I was having one. So I think this is her way of showing it. Does it bug you? </p> <p>My dad always referred to LO as "my baby" (not "my" as in me, his mom, but referring to himself) while I was pregnant until my sister told him to stop because it sounded creepy. Now that he's here, MIL holds him and calls him "my (her) boy." It sometimes bugs me, but I haven't said anything yet. Not sure if I will or not. </p>
