My LO was shedding like crazy in the early weeks - applying more lotion actually just made it worse. His doctor said it was normal and it stopped peeling around week 5. He has eczema now that flares up a lot, so we stick to Aveeno products and Aquaphor as she said J&J products can be drying.

We use the Aveeno soothing relief cream. It's thick but not too thick. And it helped his dry, peeling skin. We still use it after every bath.

Okay I'm going to start out trying coconut oil on her legs where there is the most flaking. I like Aquaphor, but it might be too thick to smear all over since it's all over peeling right now. And I don't have Cetaphil at the moment.

Not that I'm a fan of J&J but we were gifted several bottles, seems like such a waste. I can repurpose the shampoo, maybe just use the lotions on myself.

I have lotion my baby everyday since she came home from teh hospital. I use Mustela with a little cocpnut oil and she butter mixed in at night after her bath, and I use Cetaphil in the morning. She hasn't had any reactions and her skin is soft and supple.

I love Mustela, that stuff has been life saving. J&J is horrible.

we use the target brand baby wash (got a huge bottle as a gift) but I'm going to switch her after we're done with the bottle. We use aquaphor on any dry spots and sometimes aveeno, but usually I don't put any lotion on DD. we started putting aquaphor on her dry spots at 3 months. Nothing on a NB.

I'm also thinking about using coconut oil on her, but I'm afraid of an allergic reaction.

If your LO is peeling, you can use a wet wash cloth to exfoliate.

LO is almost 5 weeks and I've been massaging her with coconut oil after her baths. She hasn't had any reactions and her skin isn't dry anymore but I guess it could be coincidental and she just grew out of it. I put it on dry patches on her face and I also treated her scalp with it. I really think that worked though because it was gone the next day. I read you should massage the scalp with coconut or olive oil, let it sit for 5 minutes, brush gently against hair growth direction and then shampoo out. Worked like a charm.

we use coconut oil. i've heard johnson's baby wash causes a lot of allergic reactions, although i know lots of people use it without any problems. guess it just depends--the coconut oil is working for us and makes him smell all yummy. when we get around to soaping LO (he's 8 weeks and we're *still* just using water), we'll use cetaphil for sensitive skin.

I didn't use anything, at the advice of my pedi and LCs.

Now that's she's older, I put a calming lotion on her after her nighttime bath as part of her bedtime routine. It is Burt's Bees brand. I started this around 3 months.

I only lotion her belly, arms and legs. Not face, and not hands because I don't want any of it winding up in her mouth.

K is almost 2 weeks and "shedding" a lot of her baby skin. Looks so dry but everyone tells me it's normal. I'm just not sure if I'm supposed to put lotion or cram on her yet for it? It's been going on for a few days, but her legs especially look so dry and flaky.
Did you moisturize your NB? And what did you use?
Also, did/do you moisturize their face ever?

I have a ton of different brands we got and were gifted. Also, our Ped told us to not use any Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo and lotions. He literally said "throw that stuff away."
Interesting right?
