Wow, I am so excited to read there are other people who have heard of costochondritis! (Sorry to hear there are other ladies who suffer, but people always look at me like I'm crazy when I try to describe it.) I have flare ups fairly often - not terrible, but always enough to make me wonder if I'm having a heart attack. However, I do not recall it being any worse than usual during pregnancy. I had unrelated heart issues during the pregnancy, so I was definitely focused on that area of the body and don't remember any extra pain. At least not until LO started kicking me in the risbs...

It is so reassuring to have so many supportive folks with this same weird-ass condition. I've been traveling the past few days (makes baby-making difficult, luckily i was fertile before I left) and all the flying and driving is making it flare a bit.. of course I left the good and safe-in-case-of-preggers drugs at home. Hello Tylenol, get to working!

I was diagnosed with Costochondritis 10+ years ago. I only seem to have issues when I start a new exercise program and build up too quickly. Since I'm pretty careful about that now, I haven't had issues in years.

I'm pregnant with #2 and it didn't impact me during either pregnancy.

I get it commonly. I haven't had since I have been pregnant tho. It flares up here and there usually steroids and a trip to my chiro put me back into comfort.

Mrs. Twine: I didn't have Kawasaki's. Interesting though.
Mrs. Someone: I was at the dr. for it on Friday and he didn't seem to have any concerns.

I'm feeling better now. He gave me vicodine (which gives me one hell of a hangover) and told me to put Capsasian (sp?) on it, sweet merciful crap did that burn, but it did help!

I don't know anything about this condition, but if it causes inflammation, does that mean its an autoimmune disease? If so, it could cause complications, so it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it.

I always think I'm having a heart attack or something. I've had it (diagnosed) since HS, so I'm pretty used to it now. Did you, by any chance, have Kawasaki's as an infant? They said there might be some correlation, but, like I said, I've never met anyone else with diagnosed costochondritis.

I hope your pregnancy experience is similar to mine, because it's no fun.

!!!!! I've never seen anyone else with this EVER! I have it! Pregnancy did not affect mine at all-- if anything, I had less issues while pregnant. I hope the same will be true for you.

So I have this weird condition called Costochondritis. It is an inflammation of the cartilage around my ribs and it hurts like a you-know-what. It is flaring up right now which made me think, what happens when we conceive with this silly condition.

As a kid I had bad asthma, now we think it was probably Costochondritis and acute asthma. It hurts to breathe and can take days or months to clear.

Does anyone else have it? Did it bother you during pregnancy? Any tips?

Thanks!
p.s. according to all my monitoring this could be a good week for us! fingers crossed.
