@QueensBee: ha wish the house would solve your problem. We have a two story with two units. Upstairs could be one temp and downstairs another. So I too am constantly going up and down to change the temp. Ugg!

I have the motorola with 2 cameras too.
If she wants to see both rooms on the screen at the same time, I suggest getting a foscam.

Thanks, everyone!

I'll mention those options to her!

@beaker: We both live in NYC apartments and I have the same problem she does- sometimes the heat steams up through one radiator but not another. It's totally unpredictable in our place! So I am constantly checking the temp on our monitor because LO's room can start off at 72 and then climb up to 84 and back to 68 all in one night. And our living room might be a comfortable 75 while his room is reaching 85 and feeling like a sauna. I never know! I am always scurrying into the nursery to open a window, close a window, turn on the fan, etc. to try to keep the room more consistent and to try to keep him from waking up. Just another reason I can't wait to move into a house with my own thermostat!

My Motorola baby monitor does all this. I have two cameras set up for my twins. They're in the same room but you can have them set up in diff rooms. It also shows the temp, but I think it is off by a degree or two sometimes. I can see both cameras from the same monitor and just toggle back and forth between the two.

Hi all!

My close friend just had her second LO last week (yay!) and she now has "two under two." She texted me today asking which monitor system we have. Since I only have one LO, I'm not sure that my monitor will serve her purpose.

Specifically, she is looking for a monitor that has video control for two different rooms on one display and has temperature indicators for both rooms. I did a quick search online but couldn't find anything. Does this product exist? If not, what video monitors do you think work best for two different rooms?

Thanks so much!

(I'm trying to convince her to join HB so she can get all of the hives wonderful advice herself but she's got her hands full right now!)

ETA: I should add that she's extremely tech savvy so if there's anyway to set up an for iphone this purpose, she'd love that too.

We have a Motorola digital video monitor with a handheld unit, it works okay, but the picture isn't so great in the dark and the camera can't pan the room. So we're packing that up and installing a Foscam. It's currently set up in our Living Room for "testing" and it's fantastic. I love that it can truly see in pitch black and it can pan the room. It also has a microphone so you can hear sounds. You can either view it on a laptop or there is an app for for mobile phones. I love that it's not only a baby monitor, it can be used when we're on vacation to monitor an area of the house.

we use both the Summer Infant BabyTouch video monitor and the AngelCare movement senor. We use the BabyTouch for both the video and souns (it also has a light up feature) and the AngelCare just for the motion detection. I had a different Summer Infant one prior to the BabyTouch and it sucked. The transmission was always snowy and all we could ever hear was static no matter what we did to it. The BabyTouch was SO much better (I think bc its digital isntead of analog.)

We have the old school Summer Infant analog one. Served us well despite the expected static and the extra noise... never had any interference which a lot of digital ones (some of which use the same spectrum as cordless phones and wi-fi routers). After 2 years strong though, the potentiometer for the volume is going, and the screen (from many drops and liquid spills) is buggy. Built like a tank and highly recommended.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go out and get the WiFi Baby 3G (allowing for streaming the audio/video feed to your smartphone: ridiculously cool!). The tech blog Engadget has a rousing test and review of the unit: http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/24/wifi-baby-3g-review-or-how-we-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-lov/

Our old school one: Summer Infant Deluxe Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor with 2.5" Screen - Pink

The cool one linked to smartphone: WiFi Baby 3G Video Monitor - Black

We have th Phillips Avent DECT monitor too. The basic version is under $100. It is a more expensive monitor considering it's only sound and only one receiver, but we like ours. It has great range, and it doesn't get interference from other electronics. It also has a talk back feature on the receiver, which we don't really use with the baby, but DH and I use it a lot to talk to each other. The volume doesn't go super loud, so if you're doing something loud, you have to keep the receiver where you can see the LEDs light up. And as dorky as it sounds, it comes with a lanyard that I actually use - helpful if you're moving from room to room a lot.

This is the one we have, the Summer Infant Baby Touch Digital Color Video Monitor. So far I really love it and have zero complaints. I like how big and clear the picture is on the monitor. I also like how from the monitor you can push a button to talk to you baby, you can move your camera around, and you can choose to have just picture, just sound, or both. It also lights up, like your current one, when the baby cries.

I was pretty good about researching baby products while I was pregnant. I wanted to buy and register for the best! Somehow, the baby monitor fell through the cracks. I registered for one based on the brand and price thinking it would be great. I was WRONG!

Earlier this week I noticed that the sound wasn't working on one of the two receivers. I looked up some reviews and they are awful! It looks like its only a matter of time before my second receiver dies too. So, it looks like I'm in the market for a new one.

What baby monitor do you have? Tell me what you love! Hate? I want something reliable and definitely affordable.

We currently have this monitor:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003GAMOBO/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1325483422&sr=8-1

I do like the light up feature when DS cries. That's about it.
