That's a really interesting chart!

We wanted a baby born sometime in January - March to increase the chances of LO being a pro-hockey player (based on info from Malcolm Gladwell's book, Outliers). Haha.

I tried to plan around my work schedule, so that having a baby would somehow coincide with summer, to make my Mat leave longer.

So I would have been happy delivering in April, May, June, July, or early August--any of those times would have also included summer break (when I get paid anyway) + my 12 weeks of FMLA on working days, for an overall extended Mat leave.

It worked--I'm due in July, three weeks after summer vacation starts. YAY.

hahaha so funny that one of my old post resurfaced... My due date is 10/9 which is working out perfectly. I'll be 6 months pregnant for my cousins wedding (i'm MoH) I'll be able to attend my coworkers wedding in late august. I should be done the bulk of my busiest period at work and I should be able to take the rest of 2013 off and come back to work after the new year.

Yes, totally. I am much happier person in the spring/summer. I guess those Caribbean roots made me that way. :) There were some things professionally and personally that we wanted to do in early 2012, which stopped us from starting then. Also DH was born within days of Christmas and does not enjoy that, so we did avoid December. We were very lucky that everything worked out as we "planned."

@sugar: i WISH the 2/3/4 schedule worked for us. DD can barely stay awake that long in the morning and if she does she will only take 20 minute naps all day

lately this is my 7 month olds....

7am : WU & feed
7:15: back to bed
9:45: WU/feed/play
1pm: nap (1 - 1.5 hrs)
6-8pm bedtime

depending on the length of the second nap LO may or may not go to bed earlier

Wow I wonder if my LO is on the lower end of sleep needs? Before the crazy wakeups, he was waking up between 6 and 7, taking his first nap about 3-3.25 hours after that, then taking his second nap about 3.5-4 hours after that. Bedtime usually ended up around 7 or 7:30, depending on how naps went so that we could maintain about 10 or 10.5 hours of wake time. Naps ranged from 40min to 1.5 hours (occasionally a 2 he nap but this was more rare). At this point though the craze is hittin me and I'm not sure what to do about his wake times. He will NOt settle earlier than the times listed above whether I hold him to sleep or let him fuss/cry. But then there are hardly enough hours in the day because he's been fighting naps so much even though he's tired. Sigh. I wish he would go down 2 hours after waking up. It's backwards for him-at this point he goes down 2.5 hours after his last nap because he's awake so much during the day. Thanks for chiming in ladies.

@caffeinated we sleep trained at 16 weeks, but she was still on a 90-ish minute cycle in the day. I'd say somewhere about 6-7 months day care really got her on a 2 nap a day schedule that is pretty close to 2/3/4.
Good luck!!

My LO is 18mo now but from about 7/8mo to about 13mo, he was on the same schedule

8:00AM - WU
10:00 - 2hr Nap
2:00 - 2hr Nap
7:30 Bed

We started with the idea of 2/3/4 but since he took 2hr naps and 12hrs at night that didn't quite work for us. Then we determined that 2hrs was the max awake time in the morning/night and it worked great. Good luck!

My little one is almost a year, but she's been on the same schedule since this summer:
6-7am WU
9:30 to 10- down for first nap
1:30 to 2:30- down for second nap
(One nap is about an hour and one nap can be up to 2 hours).
7-7:30 bed time (earlier when she has had bad naps in the day).

Good luck. I know people swear by the 2/3/4 schedule- up for two hours, nap, up for 3 hours, nap, up for four hours, sleep for the night.

Aww...hugs to you! Can you post a somewhat typical schedule?

My LO is 9.5 months and our days look like:

6:30 WU
9:30-10:45/11 nap
2:30-3:45/4 nap
6:30 bed

The schedule varies a little because his afternoon naps aren't consistent so bedtime can be as early as 6:15. Otherwise, the rest stays the same.

I'm basically in my own sleep hell. Lemme just make this short by saying we have crazy motn wakeups as wel as early morning wakeups despite careful attention to wakeup times and preserving naps-I've even managed to be at home for almost all naps the last 3 weeks. I am verging on fully crazed. There are just not enough hours in te day because my 10 month old takes longer and longer to settle and he's up for almost 4 hours before each nap but by then I'm having to wake him up just to give him dinner , play a little then go right bak to bed. He settled but had a lot of wakeups and then pops right up at 5, even though he's still tired. Should I try 1nap? What is your 10 month old schedule like? I'm so crazed over here...tired and crying. Encouragement needed :(

@MrsRcCar: We pump too. My LO is 4w (tomorrow) and eats roughly 18oz a day.
He is 9lb4oz and was born at 7lb8oz. So, he is gaining the right amount of weight...and eats his meals in 3-4oz a time.
I know as long as their gaining weight they are OK....But, I did find this equation so you can try and figure out if your LO is overeating/under-eating..It is: 2x -2.5x his weight. So, for my 9.4oz baby, it would be 18oz-22.5oz/day.

My daughter drinks 6 oz at a time, 5x per day. She is 7 months old, and now she also eats solid foods 1-2 times per day as well.
