Unfortunately, so did someone else (this house literally just went on the market!) so we've put in a bid £5000 higher and hopefully that is successful! Now for the non-UK bees, England uses an absolutely ridiculous system here where accepting an offer doesn't actually mean anything. Houses are sold in a chain, meaning the people selling this house have to find a house to move into, and those people selling have to find a house to move into etc. If any of the sales fall through, ie because of financing, or bad survey reports etc, the entire chain collapses. The fact that an offer has been accepted and a house is under contract means absolutely nothing. It continues like this until the exchanging of the keys, which is usually 6-8 weeks after an offer is accepted - it can fall apart at any point before then. Craziness I tell you. So perfect for us at the time...I am grateful for accessibility but I am getting a bit stir crazy as it is not very walkable and far from my usual comforts- types of shops, restaurants and close friends in another area. The community has not grown on me as much as I thought it would in the past five years. Even if you think it is perfect today, there may be things that bug you down the road. So be prepare to possibly have a tiny bit of buyer's remorse regardless.
