From what I have read, it is very similar to sciatic pain. I'm sitting up in bed right now with a heating pad and I still have a lot of pain off and on. :(

Sounds like sciatic pain! I have it terrible but seeing my chiropractor regularly helps.

Like sciatic pain? I had that when pregnant and a heating pad sometimes helped. Also resting and staying off my feet and a giant pregnancy pillow. Good luck!

Has anyone here had Pelvic Girdle Pain during pregnancy? I am 31 weeks pregnant today ( yay!) with my first, and I think that is what I am dealing with. I started getting a shooting pain that starts in the area of my lower back and continues down through my right leg. At its worst I feel like my leg will give out on me.

I plan to bring it up with my midwife at my upcoming appointment, but in the mean time I am looking for suggestions on dealing with this!

To make matters worse, DH and I just moved into a new house this weekend and all I want to do is to put things away, organize, decorate, and set up the nursery!

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and here is what I still need to do:
-Finish the decor in the nursery
-Purchase various sized onesies and wash all baby clothes
-Purchase and assemble dresser, move DH's clothes out of the nursery and into the dresser
-Return swing and purchase rock n' play (I had NO idea just how big the swing was until we assembled it!)
-Pack hospital bag
-Make a week's worth of freezer meals

@redsmarties: The deep cleaning thing is so weird-- right now it's REALLY bothering me that I can see the footprints on our wood floors-- not dirty, just like you can sometimes see fingerprints. But we ran out of the swiffer wet jet clothes-- oh the humanity! What if baby comes home to wooden floors with footprints!

And I forgot I also packed my hospital bags and made a list of last minute things to remember.

I've been doing house things mostly: setting up the nursery, setting up the rest of the house (we recently moved), getting rid of things we don't need. I deep cleaned the cars this weekend so we can install the car seat. I packed a hospital bag and lots of snacks.

I need to put some finishing touches on the nursery. I made a freezer meal plan to make 2-3 meals a week until my due date so I have been working on that, as well as keeping the kitchen stocked.

I've also been trying to get out to all the social engagements I've been invited to, and make weekly plans with friends. I know I'll be a lot more house bound when the baby comes, so I figure I should do that now.

I worked on the nursery, completing our registry, and getting baby clothes washed and put away. Now that we're only two or three weeks away from meeting baby, I'm focusing on the last minute things - baking snacks for the freezer, enjoying some me-time, and getting mentally prepared for baby. Still on my list are:
- applying for EI (Canadian gov't funding for maternity leave)
- stocking the freezer/cupboards with labour snacks
- going for high tea with my mama
- deep cleaning the house (I have this compulsion to vacuum the dust off the nursery ceiling - I may just do that today).

We've been a little slow on getting baby's room ready, but with only 3 weeks to go, that needs to be done soon! I've been trying to keep the house extra clean and DH has been helping with that too. I do not want to come home from the hospital to a dirty house! I packed my hospital bags at 32 weeks because that's when my SIL went into labour, and I wanted to be prepared. I've washed all the baby clothes and bedding and are storing them in boxes until we get around to building the dresser.
I've also been trying to do lots of ME things. I've been getting up early and reading on my porch, making lots of plans with girlfriends to go out for dinner, and also enjoy nice evening walks with my DH.

final touches on the nursery, which included a hand painted alphabet on the wall over the crib

We were pretty far behind most people by the time we got to the third trimester. So we had to pick up the crib (already purchased and waiting at the store) and assemble it, buy lots of gear after we saw what we got from the shower, get the baby's room ready... Wash all the clothes, hand me downs and new (so far I've only washed up to about 6 month size). We took a childbirth class early in the 3rd tri and I've read some about labor. I should read up more on breastfeeding.

Plus we are making an effort to do things like go out to dinners at restaurants we've wanted to try and things like that, that will be tougher to do once baby gets here.

So yeah, mostly all we've been doing is buying and cleaning! We have one more Amazon order to place and then we have everything, I think! I also recently got together my post partum stuff (Tucks, giant pads, nipple creams... lovely. Baby stuff is so much cuter).

I'll be 20 weeks on Wednesday and I'm hoping the nesting instinct kicks in soon. At this point I really just feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start. we bought a crib on Saturday but only because the salesman was mad I interrupted his March Madness and quoted me a price that was 60% off the list price when it wasn't even supposed to be on sale. Couldn't pass that up! Other than that I just walk around baby stores in kind of a haze not knowing where to begin. It also doesn't help that we moved a couple of months ago and our house is still a disaster waiting for some big remodeling and a garage sale. Not only do I need to decorate/furnish a nursery but one of my living rooms has absolutely no furniture and the rest of my house needs to new paint, window coverings, etc.

i never really "nested" with my first. of course we prepared for her arrival, but it wasn't that "nesting" energy.

with my second, i REALLY nested... nesting is when you go almost borderline insane cleaning and organizing... it's the huge jump in energy near the end of your pregnancy. it hit me at 37 weeks. i was all over the city running errands and fixing up our place (beyond the nursery stuff). also, i walked everywhere (not because I wanted to induce labor, but because I had so MUCH energy to release!).

I felt the "urge" to nest right after 20 weeks - ordered nursery furniture and started registering then. Also did a massive house cleaning then and literally organized everything from tupperware drawer to spice cabinet.

Then, didn't have time to do anything else until this past weekend (30 weeks). DH and I cleared out the baby's room to prep for our furniture delivery next weekend. I definitely feel the need to get ready NOW. My shower is in 2 weeks.

I felt nesting in the mid-20 week range (I’m almost 29 weeks now), mostly because we changed our nursery plan around and so we need to clean out the craft/junk room and make it into a nursery for LO, as well as remove the ugly carpet in that room and repaint the walls.

The only big baby items we’ve purchased were some Avent bottles and a changing table/dresser off craigslist. My MIL is coming next weekend and we’ll get a crib then…got to get going on the rest.

@sorrycharlie: In Jewish tradition we don't put ANYTHING in the house related to baby until they're here. When my mom was born my grandpa's mom went and bought everything they needed and set up the nursery while they were at the hospital still. I am a huge planner and was not ok with that, but my husband really didn't want the crib set up yet so we had it sitting in the box until LO came. I didn't care because she slept in the bassinet when she first got home anyway.

@artbee: lol, well..I wouldn't even have the crib if it weren't for the crazy - I mean, generous ILs. They offered to purchase it because they bought BIL/SIL's, and we accepted - but then they said they needed to buy it that week due to a sale (?). So, we've had it since 9 weeks..yeah. I was a little stressed about it being in the house until the NT scan! :)

Wow, I can't believe you already have the crib up! We weren't even thinking about cribs yet at that point.

I didn't want to nest until the very end. But by then my body was so huge and uncomfortable, so it was hard to actually get stuff done. It's smart to do it while you can!

So I'm only about 13 weeks.

But, we've lived in this house for a few years. It was built in the 1800s - so the upstairs gets HOT HOT HOT in the summer, aside from our bedroom, which has a average-sized window & AC. the other rooms have half windows. So I already know how miserable the summer will be trying to get anything done up here.

Is it weird to already be nesting? I gutted the bathroom (throwing out old things), bought all new organizational bins and a shower head, and I'm on a rampage trying to find bins that'll fit my shelving thing (12x12x<9" bins anyone?).

We set up the crib yesterday, too - I feel like a nut job!

Too early for nesting? When did you start?
