My DA was up every 2-3 hours for the first 6 weeks. I so-slept during that time mainly because I was still healing from delivery and it was hard to keep getting up and down. At the 6 mark he started sleeping longer stretches so he went to his crib. Maybe you just need to hold out a couple of more weeks for some longer stretches? I think it's hard to sleep train when they are so young. We sleep trained a little around 5 months, mainly just cutting out nursing to sleep. DS is 7 months now and sleeps amazing. Good luck, it's so hard for the first few weeks but it gets better.

Thank you all for your reply. It's good to know I'm not the only one dealing with this. I'll do the transition and set up night lights. Pray and cross my fingers that she'll go by herself lol. I appreciate all the advice.

Same issue - my almost 3 year old has starting waking at night to go to the bathroom. She is in her own bed and has no problem getting out by herself in the morning, but there is zero chance she'd go to the bathroom by herself during the night right now. For her, it's a combination of being disoriented from sleep and darkness. I'm waiting until she's older to deal with it.

So my 3 year old is daytime and, for the most part, naptime potty trained. She sometimes wakes up with a semi full pull up in the morning. But lately she has been waking us up to take her to the potty at night. I'm so proud of her for doing this, but it is getting a little tiring. Especially because we have a 9 month old who sometimes might wake at night as well!
Now this is partially my fault because I have not transitioned her to a toddler bed yet. I've been stalling on that but the time seems to have arrived! My question is if anyone has tips on how to train her to go at night by herself? She knows how to open her door now and goes to potty by herself all the time. My concern is the "dark" factor and her not being scared. I thought of getting her the skip hop take along night light and set up night lights to help her see at night but I'm not confident if it will work. Or do we just ride this out till she is able to not go all night? What did you do if anyone has has this same issue. Thanks!

Once we stuck a little potty in DS's room, he was staying dry through the night/getting up in the middle to night. We gave him an M&M if he woke up dry. After a month, we weened him off the M&Ms. Not sure if the potty in the room/reward really helped or if his body was ready.

Also, he has his last drink with dinner at 5:30. Occasionally, he'll ask for a drink later, and those are the nights he wakes up in the middle to pee.

@Smurfette: K is the same way. Weeks dry and then when we switch back to panties she'll be fine for a night and then wet the bed 3 nights in a row.

It's frustrating, but I'm going to let it go. She's ready when she's ready!

Mine is 2.5, day trained and sometimes she wakes up dry, sometimes she doesn't. I'm not worried about it. We do try to limit her fluid intake right before bed which helps some, but it's not the end of the world. She'll do it when she's ready.

We went through this with my girl (not to the same age), but from day training to full night training was nearly a year for us. She's never been one to wake at night to use the restroom (ever!). She's almost 5 and here's what we do (still) to help. She finishes with drinks by 7pm. She is reminded to use the rest room before bed (8-8:30). She gets a small drink of water (sips) when she brushes her teeth before bed. She's sent to the rest room when she wakes around 7:00. She's not a frequent user of the rest room in general. Without being specifically told to go on a normal day she will use the rest room 4 times? Wake, lunch time, after rest time, bed time. Maybe one other time in there through out the day.

From everything I know about night training, you can't night train. Their bodies do it when they are ready. My 4 year old has been trained for a long time and sometimes he wakes up dry, sometimes he goes pee in the middle of the night, and other times he wakes up sopping wet. He goes to bed in a pull up and when he wakes up on his own dry for a week, we'll pull the pull up.

I saw a poll on here before and everyone is already night trained around the same time they were day trained. It makes me wonder too when he seem to know full well that he needs to get up and go, yet somehow he choose to lay there and relief himself... ack!

Our pediatrician said you can't night train. Their body has to be ready for it (physically and emotionally) and for boys they could be 5 or 6 before waking up dry every morning. I honestly wouldn't worry about it at this point. My son is almost 4.5 and wakes up with a wet pull up every day.

My 4.5 years old DS has been day time trained since a zillion years ago... but night time is still a huge problem. For some reason the "night time potty fairy" has never visited us, and he still pretty much has a wet diaper every morning.

Recently I have asked him if he actually wakes up and knows that he needs to go at night, but just pee his pants instead - and he said yes.... together with some excuses in the lines of he is too tired, and he'd not get enough sleep if he goes to the potty. So I really wanted to up the game, We bought cool looking 3D stickers, and he will get one if he wakes up with a dry diaper. School teacher also talk his ear off. Last week he was waking up with a dry diaper every other night as he got up and go pee.

Then somewhere along the line, I don't know what happened, he just gave up. The past two nights he woke up with a wet diaper again.

What would you do? I even bribe him and said if he can remain dry 7 nights in a row we'll take him to the toy store where he will get a toy that he selects as celebration. We'll see what happens. I am very tempted to say you'll get. say. a quarter if you wake up dry (He gets 25 cents a day if he collects enough stars for good behavior. $1.5 if he folds his laundry all by himself, which seldom happens). but i am not sure if this is something I want to to tie money to...

Any advice?????? Anyone struggle with the same thing ? When do they realize naturally that it is disgusting just peeing inside your pants even though you are very sleepy?
