I don't think 100 cal packs of oatmeal are making you store fat, but grains can make you bloat if you can't digest them real well, so there's that. Quinoa cereal might work better for you.

Anyways, as far as bulking, I would sauté a bunch of greens, then make a little pocket in the pan, crack an egg in there and cover with a lid until the egg is cooked to your liking. Squirt with lemon juice or hot sauce, a few slices of avocado.

Or you can just sauté a bunch of veggies and keep them in a Tupperware and make a quick bulked out omelet in the morning. A little chopped Canadian bacon or chopped bacon bits can give lots of flavor for not many calories too.

Holy smokes I just found this: http://www.paleobread.com/
And it is available for purchase at the whole foods we shop in! I am buying this.

I also read on the internet people say do not ever try paleo bread. Do you guys know why? There is another page that rates paleo bread C+ in nutrition value because it is high saturated fat and cholesterol. I don't get it - at least this bread i found said 0 cholestrol.

@MrsSRS: Thanks!

@mrsjd: So hard NOT to count calories for me, because I eat. A. LOT. if i don't count i won't stop! Besides i am not truly on paleo diet, i still have carbs here and there sneaking in in multiple forms, such as chocolate, popcorn, snack bars, brown rice, even sunflower seeds have some carbs.....etc.

@irene: Yeah I know that can be frustrating if you're a calorie counter. To my knowledge (admittedly limited), the paleo diet emphasizes not counting calories. It's more about eating the right nutrition. Glad these help!

@irene: it's not finicky. I do between 350 and 400 depending on what else I have in the oven and bake until the centers aren't jiggly. Maybe 20 minutes? I still use a little spray with silicon, but you don't have to. They will be hard to clean if you don't.

@irene: It's a high fat, adequate protein, low carb diet to bring your body into ketosis. The body burns fat instead of carbs. More details on Reddit...

https://www.reddit.com/r/keto

DH's meals consists a meat protein and lots of veggies (avoiding starchy, root vegetables). It's not difficult for him because that's how I usually cook for the family. He just omits the carb portion. His go to snack is cheese with pepperoni or sausage. If he is craving food in the evenings after dinner, he typically eats an omelette.

@irene: sprouted grains are whole grains that have germinated to form a little green sprout. They are less starchy whole grains that have more protein and nutrients than regular whole wheat/ grains.

Also, regarding fat- if you eat a regulated amount of heathy fats mixed with fruit, veggies, and meat, it keeps you fuller. So eating a piece of toast with peanut butter will keep you full longer than toast and fruit even if the calories are the same.

@irene: It's not no-carb, but it's lower on the glycemic index (takes more time for your body to process). It's not paleo, but it's good for diabetics (and for everyone in general).

@mrsjd: I usually get Ezekiel Bread or Dave's Killer Bread from either Whole Foods or CostCo. They often keep sprouted bread in the freezer section because it goes bad faster than regular bread since it's preservative free. I just toast it straight from frozen and it turns out fine. Wish I was motivated enough to make my own but sprouting things is just not happening in my teeny apartment 😜

@mrsjd: Wow! Thanks for all the recipes! The thing that is frustrating is none of them tell you how many calories there are.... I'd probably be eating wayyy too much!

@caterw: @tinyperson: What is sprouted grain toast? Is it no carbs.... or what does it do to help with your diet?

@MrsSRS: What is the heat and duration - and if I use silicone muffin cups I don't need to spray them with oil at all? Those things are so scary, I have them but never baked with them because they look like they would melt in the oven. :)

@yin: I should try kimchee for breakfast! And heavy cream.... wouldn't it be a ton of calories? I have seen somewhere that you suppose to eat fat to burn fat. I am too scared to try, or I don't know what the rule is.

Sprouted grain toast with 1/3 avocado and a fried egg, side of fruit. I eat this for breakfast all the time and it holds me over til lunch (even while pregnant). Sometimes I do have a snack but not always. You could swap out your lunch eggs/ avocado for some chicken breast or tuna so you aren't eating the same things for breakfast and lunch.

I eat primarily paleo (although I'm much more lax now that I'm pregnant). I've never counted calories or carbs while doing it because that is contrary to the supposed method. So I preface this with the fact that I do eat carbs. I need them to perform at a high level while working out. But I generally stick to sweet potatoes, white potatoes, and white rice (on occasion). Also fruit, which obviously has relatively high carb content. For example, I believe a banana basically has as many carbs as a sweet potato.

For day to day we typically each eat:
2 eggs, in season fruit, and some type of meat (canadian bacon, sausage, bacon, ham, turkey, etc). Sometimes I add in half of an avocado.

This is a great breakfast make ahead recipe:
http://fedandfit.com/2014/01/28/the-breakfast-salad-2/

Also, paleo pancakes. Easy and delish. There are a million variations, but here's one. http://civilizedcavemancooking.com/recipes/breakfast/perfect-paleo-pancakes/

Sweet potato hashes are also good! I usually make one with chopped sauteed bacon, shredded sweet potato, and top with a poached or fried egg and avocado.

These paleo scones are easy and good:
http://fedandfit.com/2013/07/28/paleo-blueberry-scones-2/

My go-to is two fried eggs and aidells chicken apple sausage.
I will add sweet potatoes if I have them as leftovers from the night before (usually diced, tossed in coconut oil and seasonings and baked).
I also make different types of hash: ground beef or turkey, onions, spinach, kale or arugula, apples, spices, sweet potatoes, fennel.
Sometimes I will just have leftovers from the night before (protein and vegetables).
With Paleo I find it the most successful when you stop thinking about breakfast in the traditional sense.

Saute all your favorite veggies, distribute them in muffin cups with a little cheese, fill the rest of the muffin cups with beaten eggs, bake. Eat 2 or 3 with salsa.
Or a veggie and 2 egg omelet.

@Mamaof2: Thanks! Do you make your own sprouted flourless wheat bread? Maybe I should think about making my own paleo bread. I can deal with "paleo" toast. I used to love toast.

My carb intake happens with my popcorn or fiber snack bar intake :-) Sometimes I do eat a bit of carbs at dinner time too. I slack a lot over the weekends so I had to stay disciplined on the weekdays.
