I use half & half or whole milk. Because I like it and that way I don't have to use as much sugar.
Plus, the tablespoon or whatever I use isn't going to be what breaks my health. Its all the other stuff I want and shouldn't have :-)

I've mentioned my DH's diet before on your posts. He drinks whole milk, eats lots of cheese, and takes heavy cream (o carb) in his coffee. I like organic whole milk the best for flavor and nutrients.

My kids are both allergic to cow's milk. LO1 drinks almond milk, and LO2 drinks hemp milk. We have a lot of different milks in our fridge.

Starbucks chai latte is a milk and sugar laden concotion. Chai tea is a tea bag and hot water so the only lcalories would be if you sweeten it and add cream

@MrsSRS: I thought chai tea and chai tea latte is the same thing? If I order chai tea wouldn't they give me the same thing? or is it a tea bag...? Actually when I order it I just say "tall soy chai", I didn't even specify tea or latte lol

My college roommate is Indian, and her mom came to visit us one summer semester and she made the BEST chai. Ahhh. I think it is tea bags with milk and she add a spice which makes it spicy and I completely forgot what it is now. I can not re-create it no matter what I try. ahhh makes me so sad!

I am very surprised how most of you do NOT do soy milk at all! OK this is making me rethink for sure! I should really not do soy milk from now on. Honestly I don't even do coffee or tea anymore nowadays on the week days, I only drink green tea most of the time. It is the occasional weekend cup of starbucks I get in the morning that I usually do soy latte (200 calories supposedly). It is a treat and I can't give up my starbucks !! haha. I used to LOVE chai but it is just way too sweet ... and I figure it probably has 30 tsp of sugar in it. Ah I miss it.

@bushelandapeck: @Pumuckl: @cascademom: Good to know! I am definitely trying coconut milk now at starbucks... and I will try americano!

@Mrs Green Grass: Me too - I am doing non fat greek yogurt and nonfat milk in my coffee / cooking these days.... maybe I should just switch to whole milk/greek yogurt. I am just scared I'd be snacking the same amount with all that added calories though, for me snacking is in my mind not really because of hunger....! grrrr

I'm dairy free while nursing, and love So Delicious brand coconut milk creamer in my coffee. It's decadent and I like actually tasting the coconut. I also get coconut milk in my iced americano at Starbucks (with a pump of caramel- yum). Almond milk goes in my cereal.

When I drank cow's milk, it was whole, organic from grass fed cows. I also stayed away from soy as soy protein isolate is a known hormone disruptor. I am a proponent of full fat milk for women, especially after reading the Harvard study about how it helps estrogen production when TTC!

So, I love dairy and do 2% cows milk for cereal, coffee, etc. But I'm off dairy while nursing so I've been using unsweetened almond milk/almond creamer for my cereal/coffee at home. When I'm at Starbucks I get coconut milk. But also, if I'm trying to watch my calorie intake I quit starbucks because their syrups are just packed with sugar and coffee made at home is less calories.

We buy unsweetened almond milk for LO's cereal, so I guess I could use that.

My favorite is almond milk from Peet's. The soy at Starbucks has way too much vanilla for me.

But I'm lactose intolerant. I second what others have said about calories because with losing weight it's all about calories. I don't know calories in skim milk but sweetened soy and almond milk usually have 50-70 calories per serving.

That said I usually drink black coffee (which is 2 calories). I dread the day it starts to give me heartburn (which seems inevitable when I talk to people in their 60s or so).

I usually only drink dairy milk to fill me up (protein).

If you're trying to lose weight, just look at the calories for each (be sure you're paying attention to serving sizes). And know that, for those that have more protein/fat, they will probably fill you up more than the ones that have less fat/protein but more sugar.

TBH, I am as stuck as you are on this. I drink either 2% or whole, as I have read negative things about FF milk. As I am TTC, research correlates a diet that includes full fat dairy with greater fertility. However, I've been trying to use less animal products in my diet....but the highly processed soy and almond milk taste gross to me and are too processed for my liking. I might try making my own non-dairy milk instead.

So, bottom line, I'm not sure!

@skipra: I tried cappuccino but many times I got an empty cup with foam, you know what I mean? lol

@cascademom: Thank you for the list!! I usually get tall soy latte and sometimes tall latte with skim milk.... I always thought skinny vanilla latte is just latte made with 0% skim milk, no?

@petitenoisette: That's what I think too but I was scared to try. I read that some people even blend their coffee with a spoonful of almond butter (no milk at all). I am just cautious to waste up my precious calories on a drink with whole milk... even if it is just 2 oz, you know! (I only typically burn around 1500-1800+ calories a day, my fitbit said)

@bushelandapeck: @cascademom: Coconut milk...! I should try that too. Do they really offer coconut milk as an option in starbucks?

BTW what do your kids drink? skim, 2%, or whole?
