After we were married, DH and I decided that we would appoarch conceiving in a very informal way. I feel it made things more fun for us. DH did not want to be hardcore into TTC, he wanted to just have fun and let things happen as they may.<br /> On Feb 14th 2012 (Valentines day), I decided to test because I wanted to shut DH up. Days before I tested DH had made me some ramen and I insisted that he made it wrong because it tasted awful. I woke up early on valentines day to get going for the day and tested while I warmed the water for a shower. I used a digital test and after two long minutes it came up postive. I was stunned. I sent a picture of the result in a text message to DH, he was beyond over the moon about the result. (he also went on to tell everyone at work....and I mean everyone). Looking back it was probably one of the best valentines day gifts I could ever get.<br /> A day later I called home to talk to my mom about it. I was concerned that I would have the same issues my mother did carrying a child (she suffered from luteal phase defect, which caused her to miscarry A LOT). My mother was so excited for me, although I was pretty worried that this pregnancy wouldn't be sucessful.<br /> Thoughout my pregancy my family and DH family have been beyond supportive. Everyone has been so excited for us. We are extremely blessed in our lives.<br /> Nolan arrived after just 17 hours of labor and pushing combined. However I did push for nearly 3 hours. Nolan was 8lbs 3ozs, 19.5 inches long. He was born tongue-tied all the way up to his gum line. He tried very hard to latch to my breast but he could not suck properly. It took nearly two weeks to get him into the ENT to get it repaired. While we were waiting to get into the ENT, I pumped so he could get breastmilk even if he couldn't latch. After his tongue was repaired his latch was still extremely poor so I continued to pump and offer him the breast. I felt almost like a failure because I couldn't get him to latch.<br /> Yes I would like to breastfeed him but I look at it as he is still getting breastmilk. Nolan does get a lot of skin to skin contact with myself and DH. I know a lot of people around me who make me feel like a terrible mother because I am not EBF him. I would love to EBF him but fact of the matter is he struggles so much doing it.
