thanks everyone it is so hard to deal with!

the oddest parts of this saga are that he hardly ever spits up, is very happy and didn't exhibit any issues prior

poor sweet babies have to go through so much! hugs to you and your families for dealing with it all

My LO had severe reflux and was on Prevacid u til about 18 months. Definitely avoid lots of jostling after eating as well as feeding too much...our worst phase was right around a year. So much puke! Also avoid in feeding while moving.

My Lo was diagnosed with silent reflux when he was around 2 months. We got him on Zantac and I eliminated dairy and nuts from my diet. That seemed to help immensely. We weaned him at 7 months and he's been doing great ever since. I have added most dairy back in (no milk or cream) but haven't added back in peanuts or peanut butter as we think that was the main issue. I keep meaning to do an at home "allergy test" with peanut butter but haven't gotten around to it.

I'm sorry - LO2 was 6 weeks early and spent 4 weeks in the NICU, in part because she would reflux and it would cause her to stop breathing and her heart rate would drop dangerously low. I get how scary it is. We ending up using an AR formula (alone and combined with breast milk) and Zantac. She outgrew the painful part just recently at 6 months but she still spits up a ton.

My 4 month old spits up so much! It started recently. I wonder if it's a sign she has reflux. She also likes to stick her fingers in her mouth, not just the thumb but a few fingers at a time so not sure if it's causing the spit up.

I'm so sorry - I know how hard it is. My daughter had it - she was diagnosed at about 6 weeks and then she finally grew out of it around 8 months old. Prevacid worked wonders for us.

I'm so sorry your going through this. My LO 5mo was diagnosed at 4weeks with reflux the Zantac did nothing for us, and after a week was switched to Nexium. The 6 days it took for the Nexium to kick in was the worst 6 days of my life! He screamed for 12 hours every day. After that though he still spits up there's just no acid in it to burn his throat. We're going to attemp to wean him at 6 months, and if it's still bothering him the ped says well go two more months.

so glad he's doing better, but it must have been so scary to go through all that trauma and testing. i don't have similar experience, but a child of a friend got really bad reflux around 5 years old--the specialist they saw said that sometimes reflux can flare up during a growth spurt because the digestive system is changing. so hopefully this is just a phase for your LO (whatever the reason).

so our little man has been diagnosed at 10 months with severe reflux, previously no problems.
he began to have episodes where he appeared to be choking/ not breathing/turning blue
after 8 million tests he's on zantac, zyrtec, sensitive and no spitup formula which has helped dramatically
I can honestly say this has been the worst few weeks of my life and I've never been so scared.
has anyone had any similar experiences? did your kiddo grow out of it?

At 11 months he would point to objects he wa interested in or wanted...but it wasn't super consistent. Now at 14 months he points at everything.

But are you asking if your LO should be able to point at a named object (like if you ask him to point at a car)? I don't think that would happen for awhile unless it's something they see regularly. Like, my LO will point at dogs, fans and lights if I ask him to but wouldn't point at a car or watch or whatever. He just started pointing at our noses when we ask but won't point to his own nose.

@littlek: I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Can he follow your "point?" From what I've been told, that's a more important skill. Sometimes, I think LO could do certain things, but just doesn't want to.
