I was so annoyed with my screen going black when using my phone so I start printing out the recipes that I use most often and putting them into a binder with dividers

@winter_wonder: yep I just put it on the kitchen table and work on the counter. I find the screen shots to be so much easier than the binder. I use real cookbooks the most, though.

@LCTBQE: dang girl! That's some serious organization! I like your dad's style! Do you just bring the laptop into the kitchen with you?

@tinyperson: do you just access Pinterest on your phone? My screen always goes black and drives me nuts.

@desertdreams88: I'll have to check out that function, don't think I've ever printed from there before.

@bhbee: I'm into nerdy organization

Sounds like I need to get some page protectors and a binder!

I'm no help - I've tried hard copy recipes in binders, folders, etc., but I end up forgetting about them, so I use pinterest :) I keep a weekly meal plan board that I move recipes to for the week and then keep the recipes we like in various boards according to ingredient or meal.

I use a binder as well and have the recipes in page protectors.
I like having the printed copy, but only for recipes that I tend to make frequently. I will try a recipe that I have on my Pinterest board and if it ends up being great than I will print it. I also like having the printed copy because sometimes I will make notes regarding the recipe - stuff that I changed/added, time to cook that's different from the recipe, etc.

I use a small notebook. It's got to be a really good recipe for me to write it into the notebook, so I take the time to write it out in the format that I like.

If I am testing a recipe, particularly from the internet, I print a page, and then I have a clothespin on a piece of string that I hang over a cabinet knob so I can see it and it's not in my way.

I have a binder but more often use a folder on my laptop called Cooking, and I screen shot recipes I liked and throw them into sub-categories where they're easy to browse/find. I find this easier than having to remember that I got some meatball recipe on Smitten Kitchen and not on Epicurious, etc.

My dad has a 200 page long, very organized PDF document he's been working on/updating for the past 20 years of all his favorite recipes, separated by category and hyper-linked to a table of contents. He sends me a new version every year and it is amazing, but I don't have the energy to do my own.

Binder with tabs and a table of contents, with extra room in the categories to add more. The website Allrecipes has a great printable function.

I also use a binder and separate recipes into different categories. I go through occasionally and weed things out.

I use a binder. I usually print if online and either recycle or put in the binder depending how we like it. If I find something I like in a recipe book I usually copy it and place in the binder so it's all in one place. Also I can easily take notes on them. Then I have them organized by category (mains, salads and sides, appetizers, desserts). And because I love nerdy organization each category has an index page at the front where I write recipe name and a page number so they're easy to find if I know what I want,, and I try to categorize further on the index (columns for chicken, veg, beef, etc). Another key point for me is to pull out recipes if I find I don't really make them anymore (or ever). That way it keeps it manageable to browse as well.

I find most recipes online - the first time I make something I just pull it up on my computer. If we like it and will make it again I print it and put it in a binder. I use the plastic page protectors so I can have a recipe on the counter or in the kitchen and not worry about it getting messy.

How do you organize recipes? I hate electronic copies, such a pita when I'm trying to make something! I know I want a hard copy, but regular recipe cards, binder, something else?
