@LAZB: My knees and wrists started hurting during my pregnancy. My wrists got better somewhere around 4-5 months PP. My knees however, didn't start improving until about a month ago, so, about 9 months PP. I started walking during my lunch hour and DD started sleeping through the night. My knees feel normal again, finally. I hope yours start feeling better soon!

Yes, it was awful! Wearing good shoes (even around the house) and time were what helped. I think it was a combo of on my feet bouncing more, hormones/nursing deficiencies, and maybe some auto-immune stuff as I also got psoriasis for the first time ever.

@LAZB: well I wasn't able to rework my diet until well over a year postpartum, but popping a low mercury fish oil pill was easy! Also Epsom salt soaks when I could find time.

Mine felt better when I added fish oil supplements. But, also, postpartum I ate a lot of dairy and sugar and my pain disappeared when I cut them from my diet. They're pretty inflammatory food categories.

I developed Carpal Tunnel in my right hand while pregnant and it only got worse after delivery. I also had severe foot pain. Do you by chance have a Mirena? I think my joint pain was related to having one.

I had this issue too- knees. It was so painful. I had never had issues with my knees before or while pregnant. I thought it was partially due to the fact I had a colicky reflux baby who screamed 24/7, so I spent all day and night rocking, bouncing, and walking him. But it just eventually got better, like maybe around 3 months or so postpartum? I EBF and I'm still nursing now at 18 months, so I'm not sure it it bf related.

Also, doesn't being pregnant make your joints relax and stretch? So maybe it's the joints being all loosened up.

My knees hurt too. I contribute it to nursing and holding him and getting up off my chair when he is in my arms. It is just awkward to try and stand while holding a sleeping baby and I think it's hard on our knees. . I remember this happened around 4 months with DD too. Maybe you're having the same issue?

I get painful joints when I am sleep-deprived. Any possibility that could be the case? I discovered this in grad school (too many all nighters) and it flared up again post-partum during the 4 month sleep regression with LO1. For me, it goes away once I start sleeping better again.

My doc did do some preliminary testing wondering if it could be arthritis but I think it was a deficiency from breast feeding. Naught be worth a chat with a naturopathic doc to see if there are supplements they suggest.

@LAZB: I have this too! I've been half-thinking about posting about it for a couple months now. Glad to see it's a thing and isn't just the getting old problem :) I've never had joint pain before, but ever since about 1 month pp, my knees are killing me (6 months pp now). It's particularly hard to get up from sitting on the floor, but stairs hurt, too (not to mention my barre videos which are pretty heavy on the squats feel awful). I re-committed to taking my daily prenatal vitamin. @Banana330: glad to hear weaning resolved this for you!

I started taking a calcium/magnesium supplement and that helped a bit. It didn't totally go away until I weaned.

This didn't happen with my first two, but pretty sure it must have something to do with pregnancy, or I'm just getting old 😭
My DS is almost four months old, and each day my joint s, specifically my knees and tops of feet/ankles are killing me more and more.
I took Advil for the first time this morning, so I'll see if that helps, but has anyone else had this happen? I googled and found some things, but I'm curious if anyone here has gone through this and what they did to help.

I've been having some bad pain in my foot for a week or so (33 weeks). I was advised massage and rest. I actually saw my chiropractor on Friday and he said my ankle was locked up, most likely from the extra weight. He adjusted it and with some massage from my husband, it's feeling a lot better. You might try a prenatal massage.

@MrsRcCar: I've been having a similar issue (varying degrees of pain/discomfort and purple discoloration/veins popping up) since early in my second trimester. my doctor says it's just pressure from my uterus. Wearing a compression stocking on that leg helps; so does sitting down with my feet up (not easy when chasing my two kiddos, believe me I know!). Apparently the only solution is delivering the baby...sigh. 😝

Ok ladies. I am struggling with pain in my left lower calf/ankle/foot. It has been cramping off and on over the last couple days with lasting pain. The pain feels like tendon/ligament pain on the outside of my leg. I am nearly 31 weeks pregnant and diligent about my fluid intake to keep from being dehydrated. I am also making sure to keep my diet higher in potassium and magnesium. I called my doctor but they just seem to think its "normal" pregnancy side effect. The pain is awful. It feels like the muscles or whatever have ripped the ankle bone apart. 😭😭😭 any suggestions?
