@merriment: That might be a tall order from paint. :wink: In all seriousness, check out Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore. It's a great light, fresh greige color. I would also add artwork/decor in unifying colors to give the space some cohesion and visual interest. Here's a pic I found of Edgecomb Gray in an office with dark furniture.

@anagram: dark brownish, red brick
@crazydoglady: serious and professional, but I'm more concerned with making the haphazard furniture colors look more unified...magically...

Paint colors are so hard because they read so differently in each space but a friend of my is an interior designer and she said her #1, go-to, always looks good paint color is Ben Moore Brushed Aluminum. It is a tan/gray hybrid with slightly green undertones so it never looks blue or purple and will read more tan or gray depending on the surroundings but it's neutral and pale enough to not overwhelm any space.

This is super random, but I could use some advice! I just moved into my first office at work! Hooray! It needs to be repainted badly. What color would you chose?
One wall is brick (which will clearly not be painted), my furniture is a mishmash of black and ugly tan filing cabinets, a black desk and a wooden table. I would be so grateful for suggestions!

Poking around on Pinterest, here are a couple of pics with beige counters

For what it's worth, our counters are dark laminate, but we got subway file and we looove how much more "fancy" the kitchen looks and it's super cheap even if you have it installed professionally.

We recently bought our first house (yay)! We're hoping to do a few improvements to help with resale value before we sell in 3-4 years. It's already the nicest house on the block so we don't want to 'over' renovate and have it not be financially worth it. I've always rented so I've never had the opportunity to 'design' a kitchen space! What cabinet color (painted shaker style) and wall color/back splash would you match with this laminate counter top? We have decided not to upgrade to granite so the laminate stays.

I have not tried this yet myself and there may be better suggestions, but I would treat it almost as if I was touching up paint on a car. I would do the touch up paint by applying multiple really thin coats. Doing it that way I don't think you would need to sand anything, but if you do just lightly sand the whole area.

We are transitioning LO1 to a toddler bed and using his crib for LO2. There are a few bite marks on one of the railings where the white paint has come off.

I have some non-toxic/no VOC/ baby safe paint to touch it up BUT I need your help as I am not much of a furniture painter or DIYer!

Do I need to sand around the little patch of bite marks or the whole rail, or not at all? Any other tips or ideas for the best way to do this? Thanks!!

...oh and I can provide a picture of the area that needs to be fixed once DS wakes up, if needed! :happy:

We have this large painting in our house. It fits the wall nicely and I don't mind the picture (it was free).

I plan to spray paint the frame so that instead of gold it is ORB (oil rubbed bronze) to match other fixtures.

I am also debating taking it out of the frame (I would have to remove the brown paper on the back) and seeing if I could paint the mat (which is a very 80's forest green right now). (BTW we no longer have the teal green couch and on the left is now a tall wood desk)

Any other suggestions? If I paint the mat, what color?
