My physical therapist recommended the OPTP SI-LOC maternity brace. It was really helpful and worked much better for my pelvic pain than a more general maternity support band. (I also had the white one above which was great with my first pregnancy but did almost nothing for the pelvic pain I had with my subsequent pregnancies.)

I had terrible pelvic pain with my 2nd pregnancy, and this belt was recommended on a post here. https://www.amazon.com/Gabrialla-Elastic-Maternity-Support-Medium/dp/B000ZKE4AM?th=1 It helped SO much! I would also recommend a chiropractor if you can afford it. I did it with my 1st and it was a huge help. I had a different job and therefore different insurance with my 2nd and couldn't afford it and really wished I could have!

@KT326: I used a similar one when I was pregnant with my second. He sat so low on my pelvis that the maternity belt helped so much.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help a ton! I went during this pregnancy, and I'm so glad to get some relief without having to wear a support belt in the summer heat.

If you can I would really recommend a chiropractor! I started going at about 25 weeks with my second baby when the pain started, she was able to get me back in alignment and while I still had some pain, it wasn't nearly as bad as what I had with my first.

She also gave me a support band (I did have to pay for it) like this one, though I never needed the strap that went over my stomach.

I'm wondering if any of you have used a pelvic support girdle in pregnancy that you'd recommend? I'm 23 weeks pregnant and having terrible pubic symphysis pain. My OB recommended a pelvic support girdle but there are lots online. Any thoughts?

Get thee to a chiropractor! :) I had SPD towards the end of my pregnancy and going to a chiropractor weekly saved me. I highly recommend it.

@macintosh: my midwife referred me, my Physio is actually currently pregnant! Yes, she specified an SI belt that supports your pelvis vs the ones that support your belly. I'm waiting to get it but once I do I can let you know if it's working and what brand

I just went to Physio for back/pelvic pain. It might be worth getting it looked at. Mine has recommended a SI belt, and stretching my lower back (child's pose) and strengthening my front ( lying down heel taps). Hopefully it helps, my pain comes mostly from walking, or moving from sitting to standing and varies from crippling some days to almost normal!

My exercise ball has been great for all the different types of pelvic pain I've had during pregnancy. I found that hip circles and swings were the best. Bouncing doesn't work as well.

After spending 3 hours sitting in an uncomfortable wooden chair yesterday (at work), my butt and hips are still killing me. I did some googling of course and I think I have PGP.

I felt better this morning, but I was very stiff. Then I got in my car and the pain came right back. I can't avoid sitting, so I brought a lumbar pillow hoping it might help with that darn wooden chair. Even the office chair I'm sitting in now it comfortable on my back, but my butt is aching.

If anyone else had this, what helped? I've seen references to physical therapy and support belts. If this keeps up I may call my doctor for advice but I'd love to avoid an extra office visit if possible. I've been too busy to go to pilates and yoga in the past 3 weeks but I intend to get back to it this week.

From what I have read, it is very similar to sciatic pain. I'm sitting up in bed right now with a heating pad and I still have a lot of pain off and on. :(

Has anyone here had Pelvic Girdle Pain during pregnancy? I am 31 weeks pregnant today ( yay!) with my first, and I think that is what I am dealing with. I started getting a shooting pain that starts in the area of my lower back and continues down through my right leg. At its worst I feel like my leg will give out on me.

I plan to bring it up with my midwife at my upcoming appointment, but in the mean time I am looking for suggestions on dealing with this!

To make matters worse, DH and I just moved into a new house this weekend and all I want to do is to put things away, organize, decorate, and set up the nursery!
