OH, our cats cant be tamed lol. I dont know if its a matter of letting them or not cause they do as they please. I notice since getting pregnant they arent on the bed with us as often. DH sleeps better with the door of our bedroom open so he can "hear" things so they do as they like!

Yes, we need a bigger bed. I am surrounded by 3 cats and a dog right now, good thing my husband is at work.

Some nights they move in and we have no space at all, or get pinned in and can't move- not good with a full bladder! The dog is usually at my feet (good thing I'm short!) and the cats come and go as they please.

Lately the biggest war is over my body pillow, two of the cats and myself fight over who gets it- usually I'm hugging it and there is a cat on top of it when I wake up, most often it is this orange guy in my avatar <---.

I used to let my dog sleep with me when I had her, but if I ever get another dog (or any other animal) I will never do this again. That is actually why I'm waiting until we move to the suburbs and have a large house to get a pet. Because I am such a light sleeper and I would definitely need to be able to contain the animal to a section of the house where my sleep is not disturbed. Right now in our 1 bedroom apartment, there is no way to keep a dog from banging/barking at our door.

We do... our golden hops up whenever we ask him to (otherwise, his bed is next to ours and he just gives us sad puppy dog eyes). Our bed is high, so it's funny to see him try to get on and off the bed! He does make our duvet cover smell, though... and is a total bed hog!

I let my dog sleep with me when my DH is away for work, otherwise she sleeps under a blanket in her kennel (she loves it.) I would let her sleep with us all the time, but when we both sleep in the bed, she tends to sleep right on DH head, chest, face (once and only once) and he said that was the end of that. When it's just me and her she sleeps next to my leg.

One of our cats always curls up with us (he travels between my husband's leg, my chest, and in between us). The other cat sometimes sleeps at my feet, or will doze off next to me. Sometime late in pregnancy, though, that'll stop. As I said, the cat sleeps on my chest. I like it. A baby's chest can't handle it. So my cuddly, baby-loving kitty won't get unsupervised cuddle time at least until toddlerhood - which includes when we sleep..

@mediagirl: You guys sound exactly like us!

Right now, with hubs deployed (and thus extra room in bed) I usually wake up spooning my 75 pound American Bulldog. She loves it, haha. She totally thinks she's a human with her rear legs under the covers, her head on a pillow, and me snuggling her!

Even if I didn't have two dogs in the bed with me I wouldn't want to co-sleep though. It just isn't a habit I want my kids to get used to. I was NEVER allowed in my parents bed - not as a baby and not as a bigger kid. If I was sick or had a nightmare or something, my Dad would come in my room and sit with me until I fell back asleep again. When my parents divorced my Mom took over that job. The idea of having kids in bed with me is just foreign to me!

Yes - our Golden Retriever sleeps in our bed, although he is too big for it! It's getting squishy (he's under a year old - turning 1 in Feb.). I always let my older Golden sleep in my bed (he's living with my parents now, as he's been sick) but he was never a problem and it was before there was another person in my bed!

Beckett is tough because he loves to keep pushing up against you until he pushes you out of the bed! Although we have just started trusting him enough to not do damage to the house, and so we leave our door open. Sometimes he will leave for a while and sleep in the living room which has been great! I am hoping that continues :o)

I can't imagine letting our little pup sleep in bed with us. I'd be afraid of him messing up our nice bed and mattress or falling off! Our bed is large enough - we have a king size bed - but no way is he allowed! He does sleep in his crate next to us though.

Sure do. Only sometimes do we let our big boxer because she takes up so much room. But we usually "rotate" who gets to stay out and in bed with us. Between our four dogs and 4 cats, plus our foster dogs. King size bed or not, still not enough room. So they have to take turns! Haha

My girl kitty sleeps at my feet and my boy sleeps between me and DH. When LO comes I will put a bassinet in our room but I worry the cats will try to sleep with them in bed. If we don't let the cats in the room the sit outside the bedroom door and meow all night so it's not really an option to keep them out.

No, even though I love my dog insanely much. I am a clean freak and can't imagine her in my bed when I think about where her paws have been (even though I wipe her feet w/baby wipes after every walk)... haha. I'm just anal I guess!

Besides, she's a 65 pound greyhound and would take up way too much space!!
