I was induced at 41 weeks due to low fluid and low movement. Cervadil sent me into labor but I did not dilate. A foley cath did the trick, plus plenty of pit, and I delivered vaginally. I'd suggest the foley to anyone, but please, get the epidural first. I wanted a natural birth, but when they started talking about that, I needed the biggest epidural money could buy (it cost $3000!!!). I hated it, but it was still better than a csection.

Assuming all else is normal, we'll induce if I'm still pregnant at 42 weeks. But there's a dozen possible complications that would make her recommend induction earlier, even as early as 34 weeks. Trying to avoid them! Only 23 weeks now.

The method would depend on my cervical exam at the time.

I was induced at 40w1d because the baby was getting pretty big and I had a set date for returning to work so the earlier I gave birth, the more time I had with him. Started Pitocin and water broken at 9:15, epidural at 1pm (6cm) and baby was out at 6:21pm.

When I was about 37wks I asked how the induction process works. My midwife said they schedule it for 10 days after the due date. I ended up going into labour naturally at 39+5, so it wasn't an issue.

We started talking about induction after 41 weeks. 41 weeks ended up on a Friday before a long weekend, so the plan was to induce on the Tuesday if there was room. That would have been 41+4. There wasn't room that day, so I was scheduled for 41+5, but i went into labour the morning of instead.

I was induced at 39+2 due to high blood pressure. We went in at 9pm the night before, and didn't get a room until midnight. They inserted cytotec at 1 and 4 and then my midwife broke my water at 9am and we started pit. It was a great experience j was born wo pain meds at 2:50.

At my 40 week appointment I was very minimally dilated. We scheduled my next OB appointment for 41 weeks, and tentatively scheduled an induction for 41+6, which was as long as my doctor was willing to let me go. My membranes were stripped at my 41 week appointment, but nothing happened. I didn't have any specific conditions or complications that influenced my induction, just a stubborn, content baby.

My induction process began about an hour after we arrived at the birth center. I was induced with Cervidil, and went into active labor within an hour of the insertion. No other measures were needed - really positive experience!

we discussed at 40 weeks a scheduled induction for 41+5. when the day came, i went to the hospital but it was too busy in the ward so they sent me home. the next day (41+6) i went back and they checked me in. the induction kept getting delayed (emergency c sections etc going on) and i ended up going into labour on my own about 5 hours after arriving at the hospital. good thing i was already there and checked in, because baby arrived 3 hours after labour began :D

this was for #2 LO..... my first LO came at 39 weeks.

eta: they were planning on starting me on oxy, because i was at around 4 cm before labour began.

They scheduled me for an induction at 41 weeks because of GD. The PA who performed my biophysical profiles told me I could wait to be induced until 42 weeks but I was uncomfortable with the idea of birthing a big baby (one of my sisters was quite large at birth).

I went in at 5:30 AM at 41 weeks. They didn't start pitocin until 8 AM. I gave birth at 3:39 AM at 41+1. LO was sunny side up so labor and delivery took longer than anticipated.

Doc told me from the get go that I should plan on an induction as at least 90% of their diabetic patients end up with one, and about 60% end up with a c-section. We understood from the beginning that we'd probably be inducing around 38 weeks, but when 35 weeks rolled around, the doctor was pleased with how everything looked and let us push it out to 39 weeks. And we didn't have a c-section.

At 39 weeks they mentioned induction could happen after 7 days overdue. They tried cervical exams at 40 weeks to spur things but that didn't work. They did a non-stress test and fluid check ultrasound at 41 weeks. I was induced 10 days overdue with a completely closed cervix.

I had been having BH since mid-second trimester and painful contractions that kept tapering off since 34 weeks so I wasn't expecting to have to force my body to start labor.

They gave me something inserted vaginally to open my cervix and a Pitocin drip was started to get contractions going.

I'm a little different, because I had two. Term for twins is 37 weeks instead of 40, so she just told me that she would induce me a week after term (which ended up being 38+3, as she was out of town on 38 weeks exactly). Side note- she bet me $20 that she wouldn't have to induce me, because she has NEVER had to induce twins. She still owes me $20. :)

I had a midwife, so slightly different experience. I was induced at 42 weeks after trying EVERYTHING else to get that baby out. We didn't really discuss the possibility until 41 weeks and then the decision was left up to DH and me as to if/when we wanted to induce. We chose to induce at 42 weeks as waiting any longer does increase the risk of stillbirth. I started going for NSTs at 41+3 and had a BPP at some point too (can't remember when, it's a bit of a blur).

Induction started at 41+6 with a Foley catheter which I emphatically do not recommend. Proceeded to pitocin and then AROM the next day. Unfortunately, my induction failed and I had a csection after 20 hours of labour.

He left it up to me. We planned it for a day we knew he would be on call, so that he would be the one to deliver my baby. I should note, that I went in with the thought that I would have an 80% chance of having a C-section. (My opinion, not necessarily my OB's.) Early inductions have essentially a 50/50 shot at C-section. So, I opted to induce at 39 and 4, primarily because my husband would be leaving for two weeks that month, and that would allow him at least one week at home with us.

Not typical, but it ended up being the correct choice for us. I did end up with a C-section, but with the way E was wedged in my pelvis, there was no way he was going to engage naturally. I'm just not shaped for it.

@ladyfingers: I wouldn't send him to school if he had a 102. He's borderline 99-100+. Our school only send kids home if they are 101 or above, and yes, we are required to stay away for 24 hours UNLESS if we go to the doc, and get a permission to go back to school because of something non-contagious (eg. ear infection and already got antibiotics...etc). That's our school policy. Please don't make me feel bad than I already feel. (On top of my *dear* husband kept blaming me for not doing it right, eg. not putting enough clothes on him blah blah blah every time LO gets sick / has a fever. We just had a fight on IM this morning about this). Peace.

I am just whining why is this happening to us nonstop... and everytime I thought he was good and start picking up a lot of work, then he goes down like this. God help me.
