So, I ended up ordering a custom mat from soft tiles. Instead of the yellow, I chose white. :)

Will it clash?? Yes... But we'll use it beyond our use of the play yard..

@T-Mom: thanks for letting me know! I bought it off of CL for a pretty good price. I cleaned it off yesterday and now I just need a mat. DD is 10 mo. and falls everywhere!

I voted soft tiles in blue combo but just wanted to add that I have an earlier version of this play yard and its held up so well and I plan to resell it since its in such great shape. We still have it up and DS is almost 2 and he loves to play in it.

@Mrs. High Heels: it's a custom combo.. The only standard ones are the ones at the bottom of the page with the little "buy now" button by them.. If I could buy the black, white and gray one now I would, but I figure if I need to order custom anyway I might as well get whatever colors I want.

@LaineysMom: Yea, that's what I was thinking too. I really like the black, gray, and white one.... it'll match everything and stay subtle in the background long after the playard is gone!

I couldn't find the purple, white, and gray one you've been referencing, though that color combo sounds really nice too.

@LaineysMom: True, the children's factory mat would match better with your playard, but it looks really soft/squishy to me. I think I'd prefer something firmer for a playmat, but that's just me.

My vote still goes to the softiles! What about the softiles with the safari animals in red, blue, & white... or the one with black, gray, & white? I really like the die-cut circle style ones too - http://www.softtiles.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=121

@mamabear57: I agree. I cringed when I first saw it, but it grew on me and now it doesn't look so bad. DD loves it too. We use the alphabet side.

@Mrs. High Heels: thank you for the recommendation! That mat looks really cute, but I think I want something more simple since the play yard is so loud.

I think the soft tiles are really nice, but I think all of the standard color options (except the black, white and blue) would clash horribly with the play yard.. Purple, grey and white may clash too, but at least it would be pretty. Haha.

@LaineysMom: this wasn't one of your options, but thought i'd throw it out there since we love ours and it's cheaper than what you have linked - http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Care-Play-Mat-Friends/dp/B0058K5IIQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376024641&sr=8-1&keywords=pingko+playmat

We recently bought this play yard, but now I'm conflicted on play mats.

http://www.amazon.com/Playpen-Panel-Center-Safety-Jbw-8/dp/B002V87MJQ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1376023771&sr=8-8&keywords=play+yard

Children's Factory mat:
Not as attractive, but it's thicker and I can get it by Tuesday.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KL5Q2G/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Soft Tiles:
I can see us using this mat for several years, but it is almost half as thin and I would need to wait 3 weeks for it to be delivered (if I ordered custom purple, white, and grey).

http://www.softtiles.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=138

Price is about the same.. Help! Which mat would you get?

We had a baby einstein one. I didn't use it much for tummy time (if he's on his tummy, can't really see the hanging toys), but there was about a month when it was GREAT for distracting him while I got ready for work in the morning or made dinner or whatever. He'd hang out on his back and reach for the toys hanging from the little arches. He definitely "played" with those way before he showed any interest in other toys.

I come to learn this was one of the things we could have definitely lived without! We had the tiny gym and the fisher price one. DD never loved to play with the toys and didn't enjoy tummy time. It was definitely just simpler to keep her on a soft mat or blanket and let her hang out with us. I should probably try to sell ours, but I keep thinking perhaps we can leave it baby #2 someday.

We have the fisher-price Luv U Zoo Deluxe Musical Mobile Gym, which I love for the gym aspect but we don't really use it for tummy time. My aunt gave my daughter a travel mat http://www.walmart.com/ip/Garanimals-Block-Books-Activity-Play-Mat/15257366?ci_sku=15257366&ci_src=14110944&sourceid=1500000000000003260330
Which I just lay on the floor and let her play on for tummy time with some of her toys. It's also great because it's really small so if you travel or are going on a day trip it's easy to just shove in your diaper bag, and it goes where you go.

@Mrsbells: from what I've heard you do tummy time so the baby has time off of their back. They sleep on their backs when they're young so their heads need time to take shape - so you don't have a permanent indent in the back. Also, I think it's good to work on neck muscles.

for our first DD we had the Tiny Love Super Deluxe Gymini with Lights and Music (I think that's what it's called!). I craigslisted it though because she grew out of it quick and we wanted more space. I think I should've kept it though because it folds up real small anyway.

Well for DD #2, we were Team Green and I wanted something a bit more gender neutral (not so girlie) so I registered for the Tiny Love Monkey Island due to awesome Amazon reviews. It's okay. I didn't like it at first because it only played music/lights up if DD kicks it. So at the beginning (from 1-2 months old), it wasn't that great because she didn't really know how to play with it. This is where I like the other one mentioned above better... It had continuous music and lights if you wanted that option. Anyway, at 3-4 months old it got better for her and I was able to put her down for longer increments of time and she'd be entertained while I did chores... But now she's almost 5 months old and rolling off of it... She's growing out of it so quickly! I might just put out a really large blanket with toys instead.

The Skip Hop one is really adorable though, I agree!!

We had the Baby Einstein Ocean Wonders one and ended up removing all of the toys and such that went with it and getting some toys that he actually liked and was interested in instead.
