However this morning we got his celiac genetic panel back and two out three markers were positive. The genetic panel by itself is not grounds for celiac dx but coupled with all his problems the GI feels comfortable saying he has Celiac. We still have a scope coming up and we will know the extent of his intestinal damage. Some tips on the scopes (E has had 4 done in her lifetime) is to make sure to have a stuffed animal/blanket (security item) with you for them to take back with them. Our hospital doesn't allow us to go back with them, so this helped keep her calm. Have a sippy cup of their favorite drink ready when he gets out of it, his mouth will be very dry. I bought a new special one that had a favorite character on it as a added bonus. Emme HATES the IV and usually when coming out of anesthesia she immediately tries to pull it out, they have it all wrapped up with a hard thing around her hand and she will use that as a weapon in her drugged state. Be careful of that, I just hold her hand and soothe her the best I can! We also brought a portable DVD player so she can watch her favorite movie while waiting. I was in and out of there from start to finish in ~45 mins. They spent a lot of time going through questions with me then they sedated me and then of course after the procedure they had to make sure I was ok before discharging me. It was outpatient. Of course I'm an adult though so it will be longer with a LO but just wanted to share my own personal experience and say it wasn't bad at all and I totally freaked myself out over it before the procedure. No side effects of any kind afterwards either. Good luck! Be strong. I was concerned they would want him back on gluten for normal testing but she agreed that it was unnecessary given his past history. She said when he gets older we could explore a gluten challenge if needed. I am hoping his testing goes alright. He doesn't do great waking up from surgery. My mum or Dad will be with me when he gets scoped, because DH will be unavailable due to work and school commitments. Overall it was a wonderful visit. His GI doctor is a wonderful lady. We discussed all of his issues and my concerns. She looked over N and said that overall he looks very healthy (largely due to fact that I am diligent with his diet), but said she understood my concerns.<br /> She ordered celiac genetic testing, stool studies (can I just say YUCK), Upper/ Lower scope, and something about testing for acid reflux. They will be calling tomorrow to schedule the scopes. </p> <p>We did go ahead and get the labs drawn for the Celiac genetics test. It was AWFUL! He had to be stuck twice. The first stick there was no flash of blood and he just screamed and begged to be done. The second stick was fast and at least it was only one tube of blood. I guess I got pale, the lab person kept asking if I was ok. :meh: We should get the results in about a week. </p> <p>Is it bed time yet? This momma is exhausted. </p>
