Usually shoulder here too! I've done loin before too but I typically like a fattier cut so that its juicier in the crock pot.

I usually get loin because it is easier to shred I find but it is more expensive usually. Season, cover in root beer and in the slow cooker for a few hours. So easy and delicious.

I buy pork butt for pulled pork. Season it with salt, pepper, cumin and a little bit of cayenne pepper and leave it in the crock pot for 6-8 hours, fully submerged in coke. It sounds weird, but it comes out super moist and tender! Once it's cooked, I take all the fat off, shred the meat and put BBQ sauce all over it.

The only two things I can pull off with pork are oven baked ribs (no specific recipe, I usually search AllRecipes.com) and slow cooker pulled pork (slow cooker + pork butt + bottle of BBQ sauce + 6 hours on low. Remove pork, shred with a fork, add new BBQ sauce. Serve with rolls and coleslaw!).

I suck at making pork roasts and pork chops... they always end up so dry! But I do love Vietnamese pork chops if you want to just go out :)

I would get a pork tenderloin, preferably flavored (we like rotisserie). Cook that up and make a pesto pasta on the side and a big salad. I love salads for groups of people. :) Oh, and crusty rolls.

@luckypenny: my go to is always a 5 lb. pork shoulder in the crockpot, poor in enough root beer to cover the whole thing... then slow cook in on low for 11-12 hours, or on high for 6 hours. dump out the juices, shred the pork, and mix in your favorite BBQ sauce. i love the smoky ones!

@looch: Hmm - I don't usually eat it with the liquid but that's surprising it was so bland with a whole head of garlic in there! Things I might add (thinking on the fly): worcestershire sauce, chicken stock, more spices like cumin/pepper, something with heat if you like a little spicy?
Glad you enjoyed the meat though :) I have a roast on my shopping list as this thread made me want to make it again myself.
