We did it really early too and day 1 was horrible like you said. I wanted to give up the whole day. But day 2 and 3 went better. It took about a month for us to really get into a new routine but for me it was worth all the effort. Stick with it!

@MrsSRS: day 2 has been much better. Only 2 accidents and 5 pees on the potty. She's telling us before she goes now too😀

Unfortunately the knowledge that you are going right now comes well before the ability to know when you have to go and wait to get to the potty. She might be too young.

@Kemma: maybe but she's refusing diapers and taking them off as soon as she's wet and telling us when she does go. It's worth a shot I think.

@Banana330: your wee one is still pretty young so it might just be that she's not mature enough or ready for potty training? I personally found that there is a huge jump between a toddler being able to use the potty and them being able to take responsibility for their own toileting.

@ShootingStar: we are doing that but sometimes the pee is so short and quick we can't get her on while she's still going!

The afternoon was a bit better, two pees on the potty and a poop. Still a few surprise pees that we missed but hopefully we see more improvement tomorrow

We brought a little potty into the living room and put it on a towel. We also covered the couch in towels. Every time he started peeing, he would notice and tell us and we'd put him on the potty. He then started putting himself on it before peeing. But the big potty was too far away.

@Adira: ya we're only half way through day 1. Man it's tough. She's pretty keen to be out of diapers, she's constantly taking them off!

@Bluebonnet: she's 20 months. We are watching her but she tends to do to a few smaller pees so by the time she gets on the potty she's stopped peeing. Once she's had a long enough pee to get her on.

I've successfully trained 2 kids using OCPT. The key for Day 1 is watching them like a hawk to learn their tells. If you pick them up the second they start peeing and put them on the potty, it will start to click.

The other thing to focus on is to make sure you and DH aren't showing any signs of stress or frustration.

How old is LO?

Have you only been doing it for one day so far? Usually day 2 is supposed to be better.

That being said, we waited until our son was 30 months and he specifically requested to stop wearing a diaper and start using the potty. Following his lead made it really easy because he really wanted to do it.

So we started the oh crap method today with my 20 month old and it's been a disaster so far. Six pees on the floor, one sort of made it in the potty.

For the last month or so she's been telling us everytime she peed or pooped or while she was doing it and taking her pants and diaper off. She's had successful poops and pees in the potty until today.

Today she just seems oblivious! When does it start to click? I feel like she's regressed today not gone forward. DH is getting super frustrated but I really want to stick with it. I know she can do it.
