@jlm22: thank you!! My doctor actually said the same exact thing :) I am so thankful for all of the amazing medical care, but sometimes I wish we didn't have all of this extra information - I wish I could just be a slightly in the dark and much more relaxed pregnant lady! Haha a girl can dream :) Yes I hear you on that one - I keep telling baby that she is so strong just like her mama - I'm already so so in love <3

@lauren0817: oh, of course! My doctor told me it was a variation of normal and to not worry....I went home and cried and googled the crap out of it. Think about when our parents had us... they had none of this fancy stuff! We are so lucky to be able to be monitored! It's so hard though, you are carrying the most precious thing ever and it's not like you can reach in there and give them a hug and tell them you are doing everything you can to protect them and get them out healthy and happy :) I am glad you have gone from full freak out to concerned... stay strong, mama!

@jlm22: thank you for sharing your experiences - it is so reassuring to hear! My doctors have been really calm and reassuring, but it's almost like they can only reassure me so much - now that we have this information it's hard not to worry (at least a little bit). I guess now I have gone from full freakout mode to concerned but generally okay so that is a big improvement :)

@lauren0817: Great update! How scary and nerve wracking have the past couple of weeks been for you! Knowing to much info is bittersweet... It's great because doctors can monitor you that more closely, but stinks because it (usually) causes unnecessary stress! The cord wasn't attached at the center of the placenta for me, so I had some extra ultrasounds to make sure the baby was getting enough nutrients and growing. It ended up being a non-issue and I had a healthy 7lb 10oz baby girl. (Via c-section...she flipped at 39 weeks so it wasn't related to the placenta issue! I had a great c-section experience, so if it comes to that, don't worry!) Science and technology is awesome, trust your docs :) Hugs to you!

I just wanted to post a quick update - we have had weekly appointments with our doctor since our echocardiogram a couple of weeks ago and the doctors haven't been able to hear the arrhythmia. We are hoping it is gone and we can put this scare behind us. In terms of the placental issue, the doctors have been very reassuring and say there is really nothing to be concerned about and they will just make sure to get both pieces during delivery. I will have an extra third trimester growth ultrasound (at 32 weeks) to make sure baby is growing okay, but the doctors really aren't anticipating growth issues with the particular placental issue that I have. I am so thankful and feeling a lot better - now I am just hoping and praying for a healthy rest of pregnancy and delivery. Thank you everyone for supporting me when I really, really needed it!!

@T.H.O.U.: thank you so much - I agree too much information can be so scary. I love your suggestion about how to think about stats - as soon as I hear the 1 in whatever I start to think about what if I'm that 1? The percentages are much easier to think about right now. I'm meeting with my doctor on Tuesday and will run through a plan with them - I think that will be really helpful for me since I like to know what is happening or could happen.

@ms.line: thank you so much! Pregnancy can be so scary even at the best of times and this week is definitely a huge test of my ability to cope with all of this. Thankfully I know my doctors will take care of the medical side of things - my job is to try to stay calm and positive :)

@misolee: thank you so so much!

@mrs.kmm: thank you so much - you are so right! I think it took a couple of days to fully process this news and now I'm at the point where I can start figuring out how to move forward from here.

@teawithpaloma: that is such a good point! The extra testing seems reassuring, but then there are so many more opportunities to find issues. On one hand I'm happy we know so the doctors can monitor me and baby, but on the other hand all of this stress and worrying is hard to deal with as well. I decided I'm going to do at least a short meditation every day - I started yesterday and it was awesome :) thank you so much for your kind words!

I'm sorry for all of these stressful things happening at once. I know it's hard to not be anxious.

I think this is a case of how knowing too much information is actually causing more harm than good. It's a blessing to have the sonograms and echos but they can identify tiny little problems with extremely low risks of future complications and the doctors HAVE to tell you about them. If it was a serious medical emergency, guess what, you would have been admitted that day and put on bedrest. The doctors are not being blase, they are being cautious and forthcoming with you about the low chance of anything bad happening.

I know you are seeing your therapist but I would also try some meditation tapes to relax. I personally don't think I am able to "enjoy" pregnancy so I won't tell you to do that but do try to positively project into the future of holding your precious baby after a safe and healthy delivery.

I'm sending you lots of hugs!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues and I can 100% understand your anxiety! It's so tough when you can't see them and know they are OK.

For what it's worth, amniotic fluid is the best airbag! I got into a pretty severe car accident at 39 weeks where I had multiple broken bones and baby was healthy as could be!

Aw, so sad to see all this happening to another Jan 2016 mom :( too many things all at once, that's for sure! Thankfully you'll have extra monitoring and the doctors don't seem worried. Also, thankfully you seemingly were already planning on a hospital birth, which is the best place to be if the placental issues turn out to be a real issue.

I'm so sorry you're so stressed! What's unfortunate is these days I feel like we know TOO much and it's easy to get scared. They have to tell you bluntly about these things and the risks, but chances are you will be fine!! We had a few scares during this pregnancy and I was so stressed out for a few weeks, some things did end up resolving themselves, but it's so hard to try to stay calm.... Just know that you're being carefully monitored and you have good care and they will handle making sure you and the baby are OK in the end!

Sending lots of hugs and prayers. It sounds like you've just been hit by 3 scary things that on their own wouldn't be a huge deal but all together it makes it seem daunting. We too got several "risk warnings" in my second pregnancy. I like to be informed but it does make it really hard to relax. Talk to your doctor and I would even ask him about things you can do or talk to your therapist about to help you work through this. Would it help to see actual statistics (sometimes a 1 in 1500 chance sounds grim but thinking about that in terms of a 0.067% chance sounds a little better). Or talking through what the "plan" would be if this condition does because reality. Does it just mean you have to have a scheduled c-section? Extra monitoring? Maybe talking through some things would help.

Sorry that you have so many stressful things going on right now! That has to be so hard.

I don't really have any experience with either one of the complications you're talking about, but I agree with the others that it sounds like the doctors really are not very concerned which would help me to not stress out as much either. With the placenta issue, I would think that worst-case scenario if it just makes you more likely to need a C-section. Which is not the end of the world – I had one!

@lauren0817: well that's a lot to hear & go through so hugs!!! Good to hear everything was fine after the accident!! Yikes!!
The best thing for you and baby is to NOT worry & focus on them. Easier said than done, right?!! But There is nothing you can do so try to just agree with that and think POSITIVE :goodluck: that it will be just fine! Don't add extra stress about that future into the mix. Like the doctors said, they will monitor you closely & they'll take care of you. The baby's heart thing is probably the most worrisome I'm sure but again they said it will most likely resolve itself. My lo had a liver issue when he was born and it resolved itself. So trust that it will all be okay mama!!! Hugs & Prayers.

Thank you so much everyone - I am reading all of your positive and reassuring messages and letting all of that positivity soak in! We have been through so much to even get pregnant so I think I was hoping I would have an "easy" pregnancy - I guess we don't get to choose these things though. I know the doctors will be keeping a close eye on me, so hopefully I will have a positive update to share next week. Thank you again for your kindness - it means so much to me <3

No experience with either, but just wanted to send hugs! I've also been very anxious during my pregnancy, and I find it hard not to dwell on worst-case scenarios. Just try to remember that even in high-risk pregnancies, you end up with a healthy baby the VAST majority of the time. It sucks to know (and worry) about these potential issues, but knowledge is power, and the fact that you doctors are aware of these issues (which they probably wouldn't have been even 20 years ago!) enables them to be proactive in their monitoring and treatment. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and wishes for a smooth, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery!
