I have PCOS so I had taken it at the 10/12 week mark, and then had to repeat it at the normal time. Both came back normal for me.

@Mrs.KMM: Just wanted to pop in to say that when you do go for your test, if there's a place that you can walk around, do that after you drink your drink. Exercise will hopefully bring your blood sugar down as you wait for the blood draw. Even if it's walking around the small waiting room...totally worth it!

I had lots of blood work at my first prenatal appointment (6 weeks) which included an A1C. I was diagnosed with GD from that test and made adjustments to my diet. I had no risk factors.

@AngelicOne: and @cheert16: Well I have no family history of diabetes (gestational or otherwise) so at least I have that in my favor. Good to know I still have to take it again later though.

I took and early one! (for both pregnancies) and I passed them both ( I have the same risk factor, along with a family history of diabetes)
You will still have to take the test again at (28 weeks) so keep that in mind!

@Adira: It was probably the A1C test. It tests the average over the past 3 months I think.

@Mrs.KMM: I was just over 15 weeks when I did the 1hr test (and failed), then did the 3hr test a week later (and failed that too). I had 2 things against me (overweight & family history) so mine was done early. I've been doing the GD thing for 18 weeks now. :goodluck:

@Mrs.KMM: I'm not sure what test it was. It was a blood test and was with all my other blood tests, but they said it gave them some sort of sugar level for the past 3 months and would give an indication of whether I was at risk for GD or not.

@Adira: What do they do differently with your 10 week screen? I'm pretty sure mine is the full 1 hour screen most people do at 26-28 weeks (fasting, drink delicious sugar drink, blood draw at 1 hour).

I took the glucose test at the normal time (28 weeks), but my office does a screening at your first appointment (10 weeks) that gives them a heads up on whether you'll pass or not. It's not the glucose test, but something different. If you fail, they'll just put you on the GD diet right away.

I took it normal time and failed  But in the case that you do have it, it will be okay! It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world. I do very very much hope that you pass :goodluck: :goodluck:

I had to take it early with both pregnancies as well as at the regular time around 26 weeks or so. I passed both early tests. With DD I failed the one hour later in pregnancy but then passed te 3 hour. I am going to have to take it again soon since I am 23 weeks withLO #2.

So I had my 8 week appointment yesterday and everything went well. We got to see my little bean and the little heartbeat which was so cool!

When he scheduled me for my next (12 week) appointment, my OB indicated he wanted to go ahead and run my glucose screening to check for gestational diabetes. He said since I have one of the risk factors (X% above my ideal body weight) that he wants to do it now.

Did anyone else here do their glucose screening early? If so, did you pass? It kind of makes me nervous that since I have this one risk factor that I'm not going to pass and have to deal with special diets and testing blood sugar and such my entire pregnancy. (Note: I have never had any issues with my blood sugars in the past).
