@Mrs. Chipmunk: thank you! I ended up doing a load of light colored covers and a load of dark colored covers. I just wanted to play it safe in case any of my darks decided to bleed. I washed the microfiber inserts twice and I'm going to wash the charcoal bamboo inserts tomorrow.

i know rumparooz recommends prewashing the dark covers/pockets from the lights, but i didn't notice any bleeding.

i should say - wash the bamboo on hot. you can prewash everything else on cold because there's no feces or urine to worry about and then you don't have to worry about the dyes leaching. after that i would wash everything on hot

the bamboo will need 5-6 washes by themselves because they have natural oils. i would not dry the covers. i would wash everything in hot but not "super hot" (aka steam cycle). i think i have a couple pockets that say cold wash, which is completely ridiculous.

Should I wash the minky covers in their own load or can I throw them in with the regular pockets?

@avivoca: I think I'm going to wash the BG 4.0s on their own. The package has directions so I'm going to follow that.

@T.H.O.U.: I've read the bamboo charcoal inserts are considered to be synthetic. I'm way more confused on the prep than I expected. :(

I would do the pockets and the inserts on cold. I've never split up darks/whites but who knows at first.

I would not dry the pockets. But you can dry the MF to soften it.

Not sure about the bamboo. I think that may require a few washes since it's a natural fiber?

I've only unsed the BG out of what you've listed, and I throw all my different diapers in together. The only ones I prepped separately were my cotton diapers.

Okay, I need some advice about prepping.

I have 20 TPU pocket diapers, a ton of microfiber inserts, 4 minky diapers with charcoal bamboo inserts, and 2 bum genius 4.0s.

The kawaii website says not to use hot water..to wash on cold. Do I need to wash covers more than once? Also, the kawaii website says not to put them in the dryer. I was planning on air drying anyway, but have read about needing to seal the covers. Kawaii says that's a myth and will void the warranty.

I was going to wash a load of dark covers, a load of light covers, a load of microfiber inserts, and then a load of the charcoal bamboo inserts. Should I wash my minky covers separately? Or can I wash them with the regular covers?

Should I wash the BG diapers by themselves or can I wash them with my other covers?

ETA: I've read synthetics only need to be washed once. Should I do multiple washes for my inserts anyway? And since all of my inserts are synthetic, can I was them all together or should I separate like I had originally planned?

Help me!

@stargal: then once is definitely just fine! The microfiber doesn't have any oils that need to be washed away like the cotton.

i think the general rule is microfiber = 1x and cotton =3x

Which ones did you get- the elemental (cotton inside) or freetime (microfiber)? If it's the former, then you really need to wash, with just a little detergent, and dry 5 times. If it's the latter I think once is fine!

how do i prep them for the first time? on directions it just says wash 3-5 times with hot water. so do i also use detergent each time i wash?
also if they want you to wash them a couple times do you have dry and then wash, dry, wash agin, etc... or can you wash them a couples time in a row and then dry once? (Sorry if that was confusing)
