I don't think it matched me too well. I put money first, which is true, I even quit my job for my kids. But then I put my hubby, me, kids and friends. I would have put friends, me, hubby, kids.

I think my answers match me pretty well.

I disposed of my *self* first - which sounds about right.
Then I lost money/career - which isn't very important to me.
Then I ditched romantic love.
Then I sacrificed my own children so as not to lose companionship - which is the big driver for me in life.

Good test!

I chose
Tiger - Didn't want it to eat me, so I'd abandon it quickly!
Monkey - Monkeys can turn on people and kill you too
Rabbit - I figured I'd eat the rabbit
Dog - I would hope that the dog would love me and start following me around if I tried to abandon it.
Cow - I'd save this for last because I'd try to use it for milk and then eventually I might have to eat the meat.

Now that I know that the cow is money/career, that would go first and not last! And I'd definitely protect my LO and not abandon her before my friends.

Cow - I'd keep it as long as possible for the milk (if lactating) & food
Dog - the dog last for sure, it would keep me company, help me hunt, provide warmth & protection.

Agreed that most of us kept animals in order based on food and protection.

Mine was and why I chose such:

Rabbit - smallest and a quick meal.
Tiger - Scary, could attack me and my other main food source.
Monkey - I actually wanted to keep monkey as the last one, but DH reminded me of the scary monkey that jumped and hissed at me once on vacation. But had he not swayed me, it's accurate that my child would be last!
Dog - loyal companion, of course.
Cow - assumed it could provide milk, and later, meat.

I definitely would move up DH and child! I don't even work right now, so unless we're calling my SAHM being my career, then it wouldn't even count? I think size of animals made a big difference in order. If all the animals were relatively the same size, it might be more accurate. I.e. Chicken, instead of Cow.

@highwire: no, sorry.... I heard this whole thing on the radio, and they basically just left it at that.... probably it is some subconscious/unconscious/Freudian interpretation of what different animals represented. You could try to search for it on google I guess (I tried briefly but couldn't find anything) ?

I'll just copy and paste it here, but people are already bashing how inaccurate it is over on the other thread :D :

The test was about what your priorities are in your life, from the least importance to the most, according to how you arranged it on your list.

Here is what the animals represent:

Tiger: Your Self (I think it is referring to your identity, your well-being, instead of being "selfish")
Dog: Friends
Monkey: Child(ren)
Rabbit: Lover
Cow: Money / Career

Was the test accurate to you? If it wasn't, don't shoot the messenger!

This was my list:

Rabbit: Lover
Monkey: Children
Cow: Money/Career
Dog: Friends
Tiger: Self

Interesting!

I made things in that order because I assumed these animals would be loyal to me and that was the order in which I felt like everything would be most useful. The rabbit and monkey provided the least amount of meat when they died, so I wouldn't want that to be my sustenance later on in the game. I wouldn't want the cow to die too early because it is a TON of meat, which would spoil quickly, and I'd want that for when supplies were scarce and tiger, dog, and I needed the energy to soldier on. The dog would be a good hunter and companion, so that was important to keep around for a long time. I kept the tiger to the end because that would provide the best defense against zombies/other humans/other predators and be the most meat (besides the cow) whenever it had to die.

As for what the animals represent, I'm sure it could be argued that the list works for me. I do put a lot of emphasis and work into maintaining my friendships (even after they are long dead and buried, and I should just stop). I'm curious as to why the rabbit and monkey represent lover and children. I have no intentions of leaving my spouse or child in the apocalypse! In fact, DH would be an incredibly valuable ally to have. He's well versed in survival methods and has a good mind for that type of scenario.

Very interesting topic! Is there a way to read more about how/why the different animals represent the topics that they do?

Ha, this is so fun. Can't wait to see what the answers "mean." This is my order:

Monkey would go first because I wouldn't eat a monkey and I don't think it'd be useful. Rabbit next because I think I'd be hungry by then and the rabbit would be better to kill off than the cow because I'm assuming the cow would be giving me milk. Cow next because I'm probably really hungry by now and could use a steak. I kept the tiger this long for protection so no other survivors would mess with me in the wild, but at this point I think I'd let it go because I would want to keep the dog with me as long as possible. Dog (preferably my own dog!) will stick around for companionship.

Thinking about it though, it would probably be better to keep the cow for as long as possible because if it is giving milk it could be producing cheese/yogurt?/things to eat and that would be a more sustainable food source than eating the cow for steaks. So maybe I'd switch the tiger and cow. But I would still keep the dog till the end!

Hahaha, according to this I got rid of:
My career
Myself
My kids
My friends
My husband

I don't think it's particularly accurate for me, but I had a very specific apocalypse situation in mind. ;) in a zombie apocalypse, where survival (at least at first) is very dependent on movement and stealth, a cow and a tiger would just slow you down and make you more obvious. A monkey would be somewhat helpful, but not as helpful as a dog (ala I Am Legend - although those were technically vampires) or a rabbit, which was probably the most portable and realistic food source out of the five (and rabbits respawn like crazy, so if you found another, you could easily build up a stock).

I'm not really sure how accurate this is in judging personality. I chose to get rid of the tiger first because it could eat me and I kept the cow last because it would provide the most food over it's lifetime with it's milk. But there is no way that I would money/career first over my child or my husband. That's not how I operate.

@wonderstruck: I think it meant your priorities in life / what is important to you in life, not really "who/what you will save first in the face of an apocalypse" :) In that sense, personally, I think friends are quite important.... good friends will help you through a job loss, miscarriage, divorce, and... an identity theft? :P jk

I think that's going to be inaccurate for many of us who put dog as the last thing we would get rid of, because that was what I did - but in real life there's no way I'd put my friends lives above my husband and child!

@Honeybear; Yeah. I was thinking rabbit= small and useless other than as meat and fur. I'm pretty sure Mr. T would be sad if I told him I thought he was small and useless.

@irene: I would replace the monkey with a dolphin or something like that if you want to get closer to a real child. I think the 'little primate' thing throws people off too much. Also, the rabbit = lover bit confuses me.
