DS was 5.5 and we gave him a lego set when I went to the hospital to deliver. This gave him something to do and keep his mind off myself and DH not being there.

We gave our 3.5 year old, a vtech camera that actually takes pics. We gave it to her when she came to visit from her baby brother. She was in charge of taking pics of him and all the visitors that came by. She’s almost 7 now and still remembers the camera as a present from brother. She got other gifts from people who visited but she only remembers the camera.

When LO3 came along, we gave the oldest (5.5) years old and the newly turned two year old a gift bag with big sis/big bro T-shirt’s, some candy, and a toy each. Lo1 brought the old camera to take pics of everyone again 😀

We gave our older DD a stuffed baby Margaret when her sister was born. We wrapped it up and brought it with us to the hospital, so she could get her gift from the baby at the same time she met her.

We gave our daughter a baby doll and some new play dough as a gift from the baby when she met him and said it was from him. I think she was too little to understand, she was just under 2.

I think it’s nice to say it’s from the baby and I like the idea above of getting the older sibling to pick a present for the baby. I think I may get my oldest to do that for this baby.

If you’re not staying in the hospital then hurt give it to her at gome, but if you’re staying overnight then it might be nice for her to take home with her.

We had the baby give big sister (2.5 yrs) a present when she came to visit in the hospital. It was a small toy that DD1 really wanted, and almost a year later she still remembers that she got it in the hospital from baby sister! We gave it to her as the visit was ending to ease the transition - she was leaving with her grandparents while we spent a couple more days in the hospital - so having a new toy to bring home helped to distract her a little from the goodbyes.

We also had DD1 pick out a small gift (jellycat stuffed animal) for the baby which was great. She was so excited to pick something out for her sister and bring it to the hospital! It has become DD2's lovey and DD1 is so proud!!

I did a big gift basket for DD who was 7 at the time. I filled it with all her favourites: American girl doll clothes, simple crafts she could do on her own, a book, a diary, a fun new backpack, a magazine, new water bottle, a cute pair of socks - that’s all I can remember at the moment! There was a card attached and it was signed by her new baby brother. We gave it to her when we got home from hospital (too big to bother bringing along). Definitely memorable and made her feel so special. She stlll talks about it to this day and that’s almost 3 years ago

We are bringing my daughter's new "baby" home from the birth center with us. (We got a Waldorf doll) I'm hoping that having her own baby to take care of will help her feel involved.

We're delivering at a birth center so we'll be home within 6ish hours of baby being born. If we were delivering in the hospital I'd likely give her the doll when she came to meet baby.

So my daughter will be nearly 3 y/o when I am induced on Thursday. I bought some accessories to go with the Wee Baby Stella doll she already has. I'm hoping it will make her feel more involved in baby care even if she can't get all up in there with her new brother. I got a little car seat/carrier, diaper bag, and some clothes. I am wondering how you guys have done it with presents for the older kiddos. Should I give it to her before baby comes? After? In the hospital? Should we tell her that they are from her baby brother? Thanks for any advice or stories!

I have an Origami Owl necklace with all 3 of our birthstones in it. Mine is a little cluttered, but you could always buy the smaller locket and just do the birthstones.

This is mine.

The push present thread had me revisit the idea of wanting a piece of jewelry to signify DD's birth. I know quite a few people get David Yurman stuff and I really liked the idea of getting a bangle or ring too. But, DY doesn't have adult jewelry with a March birthstone! I think I checked with Tiffany's also a few months back and they didn't either except for the heart necklace (which I already have the plain one of).

If you or your LO has a March birthday, what kind of birthstone jewelry do you have or would like? I'm not too fond of artsy-crafty kind of jewelry. Prefer classic, clean jewelry.

March birthstone: Aquamarine

Suggestions with links and pics would be appreciated!
