I don't know my number but I can only imagine it was very low- like 0, probably. My cervix was clamped shut, very firm and far back. I had two Propess pessaries and it took me 4 days to get to 2cm. They broke my water but still labour didn't kick off. I had maximum syntocin which was pretty intense but I managed to give birth vaginally with no epi and no pain meds, only nitrous oxide gas to relax me.

I am guessing my score was under 6 because I had two days of misoprostol prior to the actual Pitocin induction. I had to get my water broken and got an epidural but there were no complications. I got Pitocin around 11am and delivered before 6 pm.

I have no idea what my score was, but I had pre-e, so I went to be induced at 38W. I was 0cm, 0%effaced. I started from nothing, and was given cervadil before pitocin, and ended up with an epi. I began the induction at 4pm on a thursday, and had the baby just before noon on the next day. I did get the epi only an hour or so before I had the baby.

I don't remember, but I think I was 6 or 7 and my induction ended in a c-section. I'm not sure that there was ever going to be a way around it though. I had GD which caused an unusually high level of amniotic fluid, which kept the baby from descending, which in turn kept me from dilating. I had days of on/off "early early labor" as my midwife called it, and I dilated ~1cm on my own. But no matter what they did (foley catheter, pitocin, breaking water) I didn't dilate past a 3. After 20 hours of contractions we called it and went for a c-section. No regrets :).

I was induced at 38 weeks due to IUGR, I was maybe 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced but they were being generous. I had an epi and had a super successful birth. My birth experience was couldn't have gone better!

I just asked my OB about this yesterday and she said the most important factor on that bishop score chart and in an induction is the effacment and softness of the cervix because without the cervix being soft and shortening, nothing is going to happen.
I am a 6 but more than 50% effaced and "very very soft" but I still have 9days until edd so who knows when I'll go and if I'll need induction.

What does consistency mean?

I was probably a 4. I was 4 cm dilated at -2, anterior position. I'd Been having "false" labor contractions for 5 nights, hadn't slept in 2 and was 2 days from my due date. I burst into tears in my OB office so she said she'd induce if I wanted. It took 16 hrs to go from 4 to 10 cm, with an epi. LO was face up. I pushed for an hour but she just wouldn't come down so they suggested a c section because they were worried I didn't have the energy for labor. They were right. I was so exhausted I kept falling asleep on the op table.

I don't know my score. They were pretty unsure about my induction because I was VERY posterior and was barely dilated. But, they managed to get a Foley bulb in there and I had a successful induction with it and no pitocin. I had an epidural, and a vaginal birth.

Looking at the chart I was probably a 4 or 5.

They didn't tell me my bishop score and I can't remember my effacement/consistency/station and but I am thinking it was a 5 just guessing... minus a point for PPROM.. so a 4 total. But I ended up delivering with forceps... I think my main issue was his posterior position and I just couldn't feel anything at all through the epi.

I was 100% effaced, dilated to a 4 almost 5, and my baby was posterior when I wad induced. Not sure about station.

I ended up having multiple failed epidural (so I guess it did it natural but not really) and was in labor for 15 hours. Delivery went very smooth, except I had 30 plus stitches and hemmoraged afterwards (but I am sure that had noting to do with being induced). I got to pull my baby out like I wanted! And she was very healthy.

very interesting!!

I was induced due to being pre eclamptic (+1 pt!), I had been at 3cm for 2-3 weeks and had already had my bloody show. I think labor would have come on its own within the week if I'd been allowed but my pre-e was too advanced to let me go any longer. I know that at my 38 wk appt I was 50% effaced and I have no idea what my station was so I just said 8 or more because when they did induce me, they checked me first and I was 4cm already. That was another reason they were so ready to induce me - they knew it'd go well. Perhaps if I hadn't been dilated at all they would have held off? Not sure...

I was induced at 11 days past my due date. I was borderline between needing cervadil or not. They gave me the choice. Looking back, I probably should have opted for Cervadil, but I wanted to see if things would get moving faster without it instead of postponing everything 12 hours.

I was induced at 7am. They started me on antibiotics for Group B Strep and pitocin. They upped the pitocin every 30 minutes until 3. I was mostly in bed, but was able to walk around a few times with the portable monitor. Contractions were really light until about 1pm. From 1pm to 3pm I was breathing through them. They turned off the pitocin at 3pm and my contractions slowed and were less intense for a while. I relaxed for a bit, then got in the tub around 4pm.

Contractions picked up while I was in the tub. Around 8 or 9 they were getting longer and much more frequent. I was in a lot more pain, but the tub helped a lot. I got out to get checked and was at 8cm by 10pm. I stayed in the tub for a while longer. I got out around 11pm or so as my midwife said it might help labor progress. Out of the tub the contractions were coming with no break at all. I labored in a chair with pillows for a while, since I couldn't lay down at all. Around 1 I tried the shower, but it was too intense. There was no break at all between contractions and I was in so much pain. I chose to get a spinal block. They hooked me up to the IV and 30ish (hellish!) minutes later I got the spinal. Heaven. Seriously. I wanted so bad for an unmedicated birth, but at that moment I wanted to kiss the doctor. I chilled and dozed under heated blankets for a while. I started pushing around 2:30am. It wasn't very productive at first, even though the spinal had worn off by now. At 5:55am, DS was born. 10lbs 9 oz, very healthy.

Looking back I think that if I hadn't been in such a rush, maybe I could have avoided the spinal block. I opted to try pitocin without cervidil first, then they increased the pitocin every 30 mins to the max amount. It's like it just all got backed up in my system and then hit me at once like a Mac truck! If I had known better I would have asked for a less aggressive dosing with the pitocin.

Interesting! My score is a 10 right now. My doctor thinks that I'm going to go into labor on my own before then but if I don't he's planning on scheduling an induction for next Thursday and he said that my conditions are looking very favorable for an induction.

There is a score that your OB can rate you on for favorability for induction. It is called the Bishops Score.

A Bishop Score of >8 describes a woman who is most likely to have a successful induction of labor
A score >9 means that labor is eminent anyway
A score < 6 typically requires a cervical ripening agent (typically Cervadil) prior to beginning a pitocin induction

I think I was very low 2-3 but was LGA so I was induced anyways. I did have an epi but did not require a c-section.
