Their stock is inconsistent and I did the registry online but when it came time to complete I ended up having to do part of the list "pick up at store" (that was a nice feature so I didn't have to slog through trying to find everything) and part get it shipped. Pain in the ass.</p> <p>I love Amazon, super easy, but nobody ordered off there. I've heard other people say lots of people ordered off theirs.</p> <p>I ended up moving everything from BRU to Amazin that was cheaper on Amazon and getting that completion discount (which is only good on items sold by amazon and in the baby store). I couldn't use the BRU completion code on my big online order because some of the items were already on sale and it wouldn't allow me to stack, but it wasn't clear what items were on sale so I could just remove them and do 2 orders. So that was very annoying. Their return policy says you can do a limited number of registry returns without receipts, but I'm concerned about what that limit is if I get lots of duplicates… </p> <p>I'm registered at Amazon, Target, Dearest Diapers, and BabyList. My preference would be to do just Amazon since they have a huge selection and we shop there a ton. We had a fine experience with our Amazon wedding registry but I don't think we received any of our universal registry items. That's why I have a separate registry at Dearest Diapers (though who knows if it will actually get people to buy from there!), and then the Target registry is for people who don't shop online (though it's annoying that so much of their stuff is only online!). My BabyList registry is mainly in order to have one central place that links to the other registries, but it also includes a few items from other places (e.g. Land of Nod), like a replacement for the universal section of my Amazon registry. Organizationally I like the way the BabyList registry works the very best, but it doesn't get you any discounts, isn't associated with a store people can go to, and seems like it might be hard for shoppers to use correctly. The only real con to registering on Amazon is if you get a defective product that wasn't fulfilled by tem. We got a defective product and couldn't return it since we didn't place the order and it was fulfilled by a 3rd party seller. After a week of arguing with Amazon I got a supervisior to refund the purchase price.. That's why I want to have Amazon (generally cheaper without a coupon, often free shipping especially is someone has Prime) and BBB (people like to see what they are buying, can use the Bed Bath and Beyond OR Buy Buy Baby coupons). I'm not really sure how to break up what I register for on each though. </p> <p>One other thing you might want to consider-- if you have people who you know will be buy and bring gifts tot he shower (like the older relatives who are more likely to get you the bigger things) it might be helpful if you could return to the local NJ or IN store, then buy it back when you get home to FL. Still the same item from that guest, but you didn't have to move it from one state to another, so I don't think it's really bad to do that.<br /> So yeah, that's what I'm considering right now but I'm eager to see more responses! For big-ticket stuff, I stuck to Amazon since it was almost always cheapest and the people who got that were usually family or close friends who were web-savvy. The only tricky thing about Amazon is sometimes the item will suddenly go way up in price if they run out and some random seller has it instead. So check it frequently.</p> <p>BRU was fine ... big selection, and good for people who wanted to shop in store. I don't remember having any big issues with returns. Nothing we got from there was taken off the list and we ended up with many duplicates which was a huge pain as the gifts came from the states and we were in Canada. Despite the Canadian store telling me returns would be no proble, they wouldn't accept the gift receipts we got and I got lectured on how they were doing me a favor by allowing me to return US merchandise and how they'd have to destroy it because its not fit for sale in Canada. I asked all these questions before we registered and they said it would be fine. How did you decide what to register for where? I feel like you could find at least 90% of what you wanted at one place and have no idea how to split it up! What were your benefits for registering at each place? Did you get a % off anything not fulfilled? How were returns? Any SNAFU's? Do you know if the online version of the store had free shipping over a certain $ amount? Any benefits or issues I haven't thought of?</p> <p>My situation: this is our first time registering because we had lived together before our wedding and felt really selfish registering! (Plus we had a smaller wedding.) I am almost positive we are going to do Buy Buy Baby over Babies R Us, especially due to the 20% off coupons. I wanted one BABY store (and I know BBB is in the location of both our families, IN and NJ) and haven't heard much good about BRU. I also want a non-baby store for my friends who don't have babies (all of them- I'm the first mostly) if they're weird about going to BBB or BRU. I remember the first time I did and I was OVERWHELMED. I like Amazon for that reason but I have heard HORROR stories about their registries. I like the idea of Amazon but wonder if it would be easier (their website isn't exactly SUPER EASY and I wonder about picking which reseller/retailer/whatever to buy from, what if it sells out, etc?) Not sure if it would be too troublesome or if guests would even use it.</p> <p>Also, we live in FL but have no family and very few friends here. Both showers I am flying to (NJ and IN) and we are not opening gifts (both will be very casual/co-ed) and will request guests ship gifts as I am flying and cannot bring them back with me. That's why I care about their online shipping options. I know some older relatives though would probably rather go to a store, pick it out, and ship it themselves. We're planning to register next Saturday when DH has a rare Saturday off, so advice is welcome!!!! </p>
