@irene: Yeah no food and small sips of water with breaks. My son has his own "vomit bucket" and is really good at vomiting in it.

@Greentea: @matador84: Thanks! OK he puked again (thankfully this time I gave him a bucket next to his bed and told him to puke in it, and he did!!!), and after a bit I did give him about a TBS of water. Poor thing he still said he is not feeling well though... Fingers crossed....

I do a tbsp of liquid and increase every 15 mins if they hold it down. It's a safe amount. I also always keep a can of peaches in heavy syrup and do one tbsp of the syrup to coat their stomach. Keep an eye on how many diapers or how much they use the bathroom to monitor dehydration.

Bread, rice, applesauce, toast, sprite. I hold off on food as long as I can until vomiting subsides.

@irene: I wouldn't listen to that nurse- my ped and my intuition tell me to give fluids to avoid dry heaving!

The best gift my LO (just turned 3 years old) can give to me for my birthday is puking all over his bed just now :crying:

This happens once every winter, why?

He has started saying he had a stomachache at bedtime. Then got up to poop once, and then vomited everywhere an hour later. He said he is still not feeling well :( I couldn't give him anything because I don't want him to throw up again for at least an hour.

Since I am not going to call the nurse on call, can someone give me a refresh course on what to do when he pukes to avoid dehydration? I remember the nurse said no fluid for at least an hour, and then one teaspoon of water/electrolyte every 30 (?) minutes, then 15 mins, then 10 mins...etc. and gradually increase dosage. Keep him on diet of toast, banana, apple sauce, and rice... what else again?

Anything else I forgot? Anything I could do to make him feel better?

Thank you Bees!
