@MrsSCB: Ballard (NW Seattle) is a Mecca for awesome restaurants. Check out La Carta de Oaxaca, and go to Hot Cakes for dessert.

I would recommend seafood. Bin on the Lake in Kirkland has a great view of the water (if its clear) but is a bit pricey. There is a more casual restaurant Beach Cafe next door but is not *quite* as good, but way cheaper.

http://www.thewoodmark.com/bin-on-the-lake
http://www.thewoodmark.com/beachcafe/

There's also Beach House Bar & Grill, also at Kirkland waterfront. Parking sucks... you'll probably need to find street parking. I liked the food when I went!
http://beachhouserestaurants.com/

In Bellevue, Daniel's Broiler has a great view (up high in the Hyatt Regency), but is a pricey steak restaurant.
http://www.schwartzbros.com/daniels-broiler/daniels-bellevue/

Tropea in Redmond is good. I went there years & years ago, but I remember it was yummy!

I've also heard Tipsy Cow Burgers are amazing, but I've never been myself.

Seattle has the best food, worth the drive from Redmond :) Redmond has great Indian though.

Yes! My favorite places to eat in Seattle were Steelhead Diner and Local 360. SOOO delicious. I'm drooling just thinking about the food.

@lady grey: @bluestriped bee: Thank you, that is good to know about Bellevue. I've never been to Seattle so I don't know too much about the geography! We'll be arriving around 6PM so the first night maybe we will drive up into the city for dinner and then over to Redmond. But after that we'll probably want to stick closer to our hotel (we're there for three nights). We will have a rental car, though.

I would love somewhere with a view! I also think Italian, American, French, etc. would be most universally pleasing. My one coworker doesn't really like "spicy" food (unfortunately because I love it, haha)

I agree with @lady grey: that Bellevue is closer. If you are planning on sightseeing in Seattle then I can see why you would go into Seattle. BTW, traffic can be a big pain at rush hour.

Redmond to Seattle is a good 30 minute drive in little/ no traffic. More in traffic. Just want to make sure you knew.

What types of food do you like? Steak? Italian? Seafood? Etc.
Oh, restaurant with a view?

OH my gosh, I have too many recommendations! The town of Bellevue is closer to Redmond then downtown Seattle. And there are quite a few restaurants that have locations in both Seattle and Bellevue. For Bellevue I would try Purple, Din Tai Fung or Black Bottle. If you would rather go into Seattle I'd recommend Sitka & Spruce or Spinasse (these are both in the Capitol Hill neighborhood but very close to downtown seattle).

If you have any other guidance on what type of food you're looking for I can give you more tips.

I'm going to the Seattle area for a conference soon with two coworkers, and I've been tasked with finding restaurant ideas! We will actually be staying in Redmond, but we're open to going into the city for food. Cost-wise, I'd say not craaaazy expensive, but moderately nice would be ideal.

Any suggestions? :-)
