Anything! Sticky rice is my favorite rice. I didn't even know other types of rice existed until I got out of the house, haha.

You could make mango sticky rice, yum!

I like it with bulgolgi, though (which is what we're having for dinner!)

@anonysquire: I'd say its more just a general sweetness with the green curry than an overtly coconut flavor.

I second a PP who said Korean food was yummy - I love it!

with the girls I nannied, I'd definitely suggest starting with the "yucky" ones and keeping the better til later! They might never accept the yuckers if they know there are sweeter things available.

On the other hand, my nephew is 2.5 in Jan, and still not eating. they thought he was just picky when they introduced solids, but now they have a team of early intervention specialists trying to figure out what is going on. he'll only eat broth.

I'm going to make homemade rice cereal (cooked white and brown rice pureed then mixed with breastmilk). The recipe is from weelicious.

I'm not concerned that rice cereal can be seen as a filler. Nutrition from solids isn't a priority at this point. In the very early stages, I just want DD to get used to eating with (and through baby led weaning, without) a spoon and experimenting with different textures and flavors. Both white and brown rice will mix well with breastmilk as far as taste goes so I'm thinking it's a great first food. It's also, culturally, an important food in my family so i think it's a good food to start off with! Other foods can be first too, but my baby is definitely going to be eating rice at some point, so it works for us to start off with it :)

We tried cereal (organic, brown rice since its healthier) and my baby ended up being one of the lucky ones that has some sort of allergy to it. Poor baby, it made him vomit like crazy!

He's 8 months now and I started with sweet potatoes, peas, etc. but he hates everything. I've tried fruit out of desperation and still no luck. I don't know why, but my LO really HATES food...he throws full on fits and spits everything out no matter how many different tricks we've tried. I hope you'll have better luck than we are!

@ohapostrophe: Would you be able to share more about your baby led weaning? Maybe that would work for us? Or have you written a blog post I may have missed? Btw, we LOVE the Bjorn bibs, so thanks for writing about them!

I'm going to stress starting at 5 months since starting at 6 months would be hell since we're travelling almost that whole month. We'll be starting with green vegi's and then moving to fruit after about a month or so. I see no point in the cereal.

My LO just got the go ahead from the pedi to start solids when we are ready.

I have heard there is a lot of new research out there that says the rice cereal (and some of the other kinds) are all just filler and no real nutritional value.
