@Corduroy: That's crazy! It gives me hope, though. I was wondering how I'll ever handle labor if I can't handle this.

The pain might not last the rest of your pregnancy. I had about 24 hours of crazy hip pain last pregnancy. I felt like I was being ripped apart. It turned out that LO was turning from one side to the other. I went on to have a relatively comfortable last few weeks. I hope it's temporary for you too.

@blackbird: I'll give heat a try - I have a rice sack thing I can stick in the microwave. It most definitely is the pressure from his ginormous head, lol! I feel better standing up and cooking dinner than lying or sitting down.

@macintosh: hmmm I wonder if the pressure of the baby just triggers that muscle. I use heat but I know some people aren't ok with it. I just don't get so hot I start sweating or anything. But it's a ligament and if it's tight or sore, I treat it like any other sore muscle.

@blackbird: What really confuses me is I only have the pain when lying down. Of course now he's lower so that might change. I have an elastic belt, but I got it months ago and it barely fits now. Do you think it's ok to do heat on my actual pelvis?

I wear a support band some days. I aggravated it bad a month ago and it took days to heal. I've had a lot more sharp pains lately. I try to move slow and heat feels good, too

For a while I've had some pretty intense round ligament pains when I'm lying down to sleep on my side. I've been using a wedge pillow under my bump and usually I can get it to calm done by turning from one side to the other.

Last night, I had very intense, sharp RLPs all night long. I barely slept and just could not get comfortable.

This morning I realized baby had dropped! No wonder there is more pressure down there. Unfortunately, I tried to take a nap and the RLPs are killing me! I don't know how I'm going to sleep if it's like this for the next 4 weeks,

Has anyone had this? Did anything help? I've tried propping so many pillows under my bump but it's just not helping. I'm thinking maybe an ultra strength support band, but I don't think you're supposed to wear those lying down. :bummed:

That's probably what it was. Mine was sometimes shooting, sometimes throbbing. Always disconcerning, though!

Yup---I have this too. It didn't start until about 19.5 weeks for me and it is much more intense now at 21.5 weeks.

I've been having it constantly the past few days. I thought I had a bladder infection or something but went to the OB this morning and they said nope -- just debilitating growing pains :)

Sounds like mine! I had it on the left side last week, then nothing the past few days, then yesterday morning, it kicked in the right side. As I was trying to cross my legs at work~

I'm not sure if this is RLP but starting today I've short sharp stabbing like pain in my lower abdomen on the right side. I'm about 10 weeks. Has anyone experienced this?

Mine hit around 20 weeks, and was pretty much how you described. Like a side stitch after running too much, and getting up from the bed was torture. A body pillow helped so much!

I haven't felt any RLP until the last two days (just hit 20w). The feeling is a mild achiness that hangs around for a while after sitting still/sleeping. Easy enough to deal with, like stretching a tight muscle (which makes sense)...but I'm not a fan of stretching, haha!

Mine feels the same way! Mine is always worse after sitting or standing for a while or at night when I roll over. My doc has told me take 2 extra strength tylenol if it gets bad, but I've avoided taking anything unless it's unbearable. You should call your doc to see what they would recommend for pain relief, in case it gets bad!!!

That's exactly what mine feels like. Sometimes is is low on my sides and other times it almost feels like it is in my vagina. It sucks but there isn't much we can do for it.

All day, I have had this constant pain in the lower right side of my abdomen. When I move or cough, it feels like I'm being stabbed. It feels pretty much like a pulled muscle. I just had an ultrasound today, so I know the baby is ok and in the right place. I'm pretty sure it's RLP. What did/does yours feel like? Did you ever have a day where it was a constant thing?
