I'm so sorry - it breaks my heart when this happens :(

When I was TTC for the first time, I had a MC at 6 weeks - right before I was to go to the Dr. It took me a couple months to get pregnant again, and I went in at 4 weeks because I lied about when my last period was since I really wanted to see the baby! It was a good thing, because it turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy - we wouldn't have caught it otherwise!! After 4 weeks of watching my hcg levels, multiple ultrasounds, lots of research and crying, I had to end it. It then took 9 months to get pg with DD.

I feel for you - hope it doesn't take a year again!!

I am so sorry for your loss.

I wasn't as far along as you, but my doc said to count the first day of bleeding as CD 1. He also said we didn't have to wait, so we didn't. I had some early EWCM for a few days but didn't O. I ended up Oing about a week later with a normal mucus cycle on CD 15. That is about 9 days earlier than normal for me. I'm in my TWW now, and super hopeful-the signs have all been good. Hoping for the best for you.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Another option with the progesterone is to take it starting in the 2WW, so that it doesn't have a chance to drop low. Plus it could help with implantation and all of that! Then it would be one less thing to worry about when you do get your BFP, which is hopefully soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I agree with other posters about contacting your OB/Dr ASAP when you get a BFP to get a script for progesterone to help your LO stick. I had to do that even though my previous tests didn't say I had progesterone problems; and have known several other ladies in real life that have done this also.

@wheres_c: My post-O progesterone was checked on 2 separate (non pregnant) cycles this past year, and it was always "high." This was with my old OB/GYN. I did find it odd that when I got pg. this past time, I never had any blood work to check anything. :o/

@looch: Yeah I had to shut off for a while. We have been going to CPMA in Lausanne since January. We started off with the basic testing and then I got pg. My doc thought I was just one of those antsy crazy ladies..well I showed her. lol My old doc was very hands off and "wait and see." I got sick of him so that's when we started going to CPMA. I love my doc now. We are getting a crap-load more testing done after this 2'nd loss. We both already got blood taken for Karyotyping and I'm getting tested now for blood-clotting issues. As soon as my HCG is down she wants to test for Thyroid anti-bodies. And possibly do a endometrial biopsy, which I'm not crazy about because I don't think she will knock me out for it. I don't think I'll do it unless absolutely necessary.

@blackbird: Thanks. I know...that's what's leading me to believe it's "something" because we have lost both AFTER seeing heartbeats. Can I ask you, did you have any symptoms with the blood clotting disorder?

@futuremama: Good to hear that things seem to return back to normal faster after a natural MC. After number 1 (D&C) it took like 6 weeks for AF to show. I was so ready to get the show on the road...! Glad your RPL testing is all normal, but I know it can be frustrating when there's no magic fix. :o/

@Jennimac: I can't imagine the pain of a 20 week loss. Hugs to you! I've never been put on progesterone.

@spaniellove: Thank you. Yup we are doing lots of testing now. I hope we are both back on the other side soon xoxo.

@sweetooth: Thanks, it's nice to know I was remembered after I dropped off the face off HB :) Yes I'll definitely be getting progesterone checked as soon as a get a BFP next time. Yup, already had HSG and DH has had 2 SA's. They were not like, amazing results, but nothing really bad either. (At least in the doc's opinion.) Good count, but morphology is only 4% normal. She's not worried about it, so we're going to try not to be either.

Thanks EVERYone for your kind words and advice! It means a lot!!

My heart sank when I saw the title of the post and that your name was attached to it. :( I'm sorry you're having to go through this again.

I echo what others are saying about progesterone. Be sure to ask about that and see if you can start take supplements after you get pregnant again.

And as for the length of time it took to get pregnant again after your first MC, I think it's probably good to continue with the diagnostic tests. You already had the HSG, right? And did your husband have the SA? I know that miscarriages happen but can't always be explained, but I think you have every right to ask why it is taking so long.

Hugs!

I'm so sorry this is happening to you...and especially sorry you had to go through this a second time.

My m/c was also natural and the bleeding started at 6w5d. In terms of charting I think you can count that date as CD1, but my doctor told me not to count that as a real period. (I've seen the weeks between the bleeding and your real AF just counted as a loss cycle on FF.)

It makes things so much scarier when this comes after infertility or difficulty conceiving...and this was our second loss too, although our first was earlier on and not when we were TTC. I know they started the RPL testing before the loss and no one bothered to discuss the results with me - my clinic is not exactly hands-on. Do you have the option of doing chromosomal/genetic testing, or would you do it? Hopefully that HSG was all you really needed to get pregnant quickly and it won't take as long again next time. Sending big hugs your way.

I'm so sorry.

Last summer, I had a miscarriage in June, and I conceived on the very next cycle (with no period in between.) I MC'd naturally, so I counted day one as the day of bleeding.

I have long cycles usually, and that cycle was no different...I ovulated the same time I always did. I did use OPKs and watched my cervix for clues.

Usually miscarriages are just the luck of the draw. But, when you conceive again, there's no harm in taking extra progesterone, and given your history, I would get into the DR asap as soon as you get a BFP to get a prescription.

I'm so sorry! Hugs and prayers.

We lost our daughter at 20 weeks. I had to deliver and when the bleeding from delivery stopped, then I counted the next bleeding as my new cycle. I started one month after we delivered. I had to wait two cycles before we could start trying again since we were so far along.

Did your doctor put you progesterone at any point? My doctor also had me start taking a baby aspirin. There have been studies that show it helps with late term loss.

Good luck and I hope you get some answers.

So sorry for your loss, but welcome back. Your story is very similar to mine. I also had a missed m/c and D&C with #1 and #2 happened naturally. My period returned much sooner after my natural m/c. It was a few days shorter than my regular 28 day cycle. We never saw a heartbeat in either one though.

I've just completed my RPL testing and everything is normal. I try to consider this a good thing, but sometimes I wish I had an answer. Keep in mind that they only find a possible cause in about half of women with multiple m/c's.

((HUGS)) I am so sorry for your loss.

We had an early MC in January at 5 weeks. I counted my first day of bleeding as CD1 & everything returned to normal afterwards. My mood swings were crazy for a little while (my husband would probably disagree and say they are always crazy) but I think the progesterone the Dr. put me on made the mood swings more dramatic. No "luck" sense and the doctors telling me this is all "normal" & "to be expected" after 10 years on BC is BS! I get that. Now fix it...right?

I'm so sorry to hear this :(

My doc didn't count the bleeding from the mc as a cycle-I had to wait for all that bleeding to stop, then about 7 weeks later, I started bleeding again, and THAT was considered CD1.

You're more fertile after a mc so I hope it happens quickly!!!

And I hope nothing is wrong with you but after my second mc, they found I had a blood clotting disorder that was easily treated. There could be factors for you and your DH that increase likelihood of chromosomal abornalitoes, but there isn't much you could do about that :-/ it's just a possibility. Chance of a mc drops to < 5% when a heartbeat is seen, so the two in a row chance is low...i would inquire more simply because it is unusual, statistically speaking

Good luck! I hope it happens quickly for you!

So so sorry for your loss. I don't have any advice about charting.... I think after I miscarried I waited until I had another period again before trying and then I got pregnant on the first try with my LO.

Try not to get discouraged that it took so long to get pregnant. Look at what happened to Mrs.Bee..... she took awhile to get pregnant with Charlie and miscarried first but then she had no problems getting pregnant with Olive. Every pregnancy is different!

I'm so sorry. After my miscarriage we waited a cycle to try but I got my period exactly 28 days after the first day of bleeding. So it seemed like I had a pretty regular cycle with ovulation. But I miscarried at only 5 weeks so there was less hcg to get out of my system. I'm pretty sure you will not ovulate until hcg is at zero. Good luck with trying again. After we took a cycle off we got pregnant on the first try with our sticky baby who is now five months old! So don't lose hope!

Hey all...well I've been absent for a few weeks. We lost this LO. :(

It happened naturally this time. Other Dec. 2013 moms may remember that LO was measuring too small at my first US at 7w2d. The MC started a few days later. Had an US last week and everything is gone. Just waiting for HCG to lower all the way, have to go back Friday and check. (Will be the 3'rd check.)

I have some questions for ladies who've BTDT. This is my 2'nd MC, but the first was missed, and I had to have a D&C. With that, I counted the D&C as CD1. Now, for charting purposes, do I count the first day of red bleeding as CD 1?

Also, my doc said I didn't have to wait at all to try again. Even though I'm getting RPL testing done now, she said she really feels that nothing is really "wrong." So we don't need to protect against another pregnancy right now. SO, I want to try right away. (And we'll be keeping a closer eye on everything if/when I get pg again.)

So my question is, when can I expect to ovulate? If I count the first day of bleeding as CD 1, that would put me at CD 12 today. Will I definitely NOT ovulate until HCG has returned to 0? Or could I still? (I took an HPT yesterday and it was still positive.)

Lastly...I know this is a dumb question but just for getting opinions sake...do you think something could be wrong with me? I mean last year: MMC at 9 weeks. LO looked like it stopped growing after about 6.5 weeks. This time, natural MC at 7.5 weeks, LO measured too small at first ultrasound. BOTH times we saw the heartbeat! Not to mention it took us an entire YEAR to get pregnant again after the first MC. I know "they" say that is "normal" but when you are charting and all that, and timing intercourse right...it shouldn't take a year, right?

::sigh:: I'm just glad we're getting more testing done I guess. I feel ok I suppose. We are definitely pissed that we've had rotten luck again. (I use the word "luck" for lack of a better word.)

The only time I get really upset is when I think that it could take a whole year again to get pregnant. I told my doc. I can't handle that...

Not sure how active I'll be for a while, I guess I'm a little bitter and it's hard.

Thanks for listening/reading.
