Agree with @lemong with Red Tricycle and all of her suggestions. Exploratorium and Cal Academy of Sciences are really popular for families. I personally love the Chrissy Field/Marina area to walk around, grab a bite to eat and hang out near the GG Bridge and people watch. Oh and the Ferry Building is really nice too (great food and coffee and view of the Bay).

PS let me know if anyone would be down for catching a Giants games with our littles! It'd be a fun Bee meet-up!

Check out Red Tricycle for the SF Bay Area - there's usually a nice list of things going on.

Other things: California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Park itself (there's a ton to do there - Stow Lake, the arboretum, just walking around). Children's Creativity Museum (I think that's what it's called) that's somewhat close to Union Square. If you're adventurous and want to take Muni, Chrissy Field/Marina area is really pretty to walk around and has a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Exploratorium which is on the wharf now. They have some nice places for little ones to play and is super fun for adults.

I'm currently planning a trip to San Francisco in May with our almost two year old daughter. We're staying in union square and won't have a car with us.

For those in the bay area - are there any good parent blogs you'd recommend that list current weekly events for kids? Or, have any recommendations yourself on places to visit? We're already planning to catch a Giants game, but would love to explore the city as well.
