Amazon warehouse has some nice discounts on the Micro scooters too. Not sure it they're usually included in their 20% off warehouse deals that they run too if you don't need it right away

We are looking to upgrade DD's scooter soon. She will be six in December and we put the Globber Ultimum on her wish list. She has had a smaller globber three wheel for almost four years that we have loved! Just looking for something bigger (also a plus that DH and I could hop on it, if we want to :silly: )

+1 micro maxi. Especially if she’s resistant to this sort of thing, 3 wheels will be more comfortable and they still go fast enough to be lots of fun.

Thank you SO much everyone! I think a micro maxi 3-wheel is the way to go. They’re included in Targets $25 off $100 toy sale right now so that helps the price a lot. I’ll check the manufacturers site though to see if there is a good deal there too. I asked DH what he thought and his comment about the wheel size and smooth ride lined up with your comment @hitchhiker about the smaller harder wheels. He is a former skateboarder and that kind of thing just would have never occurred to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really just want something to get her outside and moving and to set her up for success with something she will have fun with and feel safe riding.

DS1 who is turning 8 in a month has been asking for a 2 wheeled scooter so I bought a Razor for him and DS2 for Christmas just yesterday. I don't think my 5 yo will master it just yet and is happy with his 3 wheeled scooter but DS1 is definitely too tall for his old one. Our neighbor's kids are 5 and 6 and have been riding their Razors all summer.

I think a 3-wheel is the way to go. My 7.5 year old has a 2-wheel Micro Sprite, which I do not recommend. Ride is very rough (feel every bump), and it often gets caught in cracks in the sidewalk/road. I thought she was being dramatic about her distaste for this scooter, but then I rode it for a few blocks and agree that it is awful. I think any 2-wheeler with small wheels would be unpleasant to ride. She likes riding my Micro Black, which has larger wheels, but it really is too big for her. Recently she rode her friend's Micro Maxi and asked us to buy her a 3-wheel scooter.

In terms of fold, the handle can detach from the base on the Maxi. It's not as nice as the fold on the 2 wheeled scooters, but I used to do it daily to fit it into a daycare cubby and it wasn't a big deal.

DS (4) has a MicroMini Deluxe (handle rises higher so you can use it longer), which has 3 wheels, and DD (8) has a Razor, which has 2. My DD got her Razor a couple years ago and only really mastered it during the pandemic (age 7). She is cautious and still hasn’t mastered riding a two-wheel bike. She really enjoys her Razor now, but she also loves borrowing her brother’s. I think the additional stability gives her added confidence. All that being said, you might want a 3-wheeler if you can find one that will fit your DD. My sister got her DS a MicroMini for half off during their Black Friday sale last year!

They’re pricey but I definitely recommend the micro maxi - my 8:5yo got hers at 5 and she still loves it. It’s super intuitive and easy to handle. They also hold value well - they come up in our local kids garage sale page, and can be resold for good value later. So that helps with the cost a bit. I also bought ours on Black Friday, I think, and check the Micro site because sometimes they offer clearance items in old colors etc. My son has ridden his into the ground and I still think it’ll have good resale even with wear on it (he has far more wear on his than my more cautious oldest!).

Ps my oldest is the same story - she never rode her 16” bike too much but loved the scooter. In the spring she finally felt the peer pressure to want to learn to ride without training wheels and we had to buy a new bike to do so. I’m glad we waited to invest in that until she was mentally ready! It still took some time for her to learn since she’s so cautious but we got it done and now she finally loves bike riding too.

DD1 never really got into her bike and has now outgrown it. We are thinking of getting her a scooter instead of replacing the bike right away, mostly because she is pretty resistant to riding (and definitely is not interested in learning to ride without training wheels yet).

I am not sure whether to go with a 3 or 2 wheel scooter. I like the idea of added stability for the 3-wheeler but the ones I’m looking at are much pricier than 2-wheels (Like $100 more) and don’t fold up :/

I don’t want to push her too much right away (she’s an anxious kid who struggles with new things, especially physical activities) but I just have no experience to know if there’s that much of a difference between the two.

Thoughts?
