I think I'm going to wear a blue dress but am planning on wearing a black and grey dress for our newborn shoot and I don't think it's morbid :happy: It should all be about what makes you feel good.

I voted other. I would only wear a black dress if it was really form-fitting or it showed off your bump really well. I made the mistake of wearing all black (a fitted long-sleeve top and leggings) with a cardigan-type sweater and you could barely notice my bump and I was 35 weeks. My outfit change was a fitted tan and black striped dress and I preferred how my belly looked in those pics!

I wore black in my maternity photos. It'll show off your bump fine...you just gotta watch your background and angle.

Just Googled black maternity dresses and they look pretty darn good. Chic not morbid. I agree with others that quite a few bumps were hard to see.

I agree with the gals above. Black is great, but it won't make your belly pop for pictures. I passed up my favorite dress for that reason and went with my other choices instead.

@Ash: I agree. I don't think it's morbid, but it really played down my bump a lot.

I didn't do formal maternity photos but we did get some family photos taken on a beach trip when I was almost 8 months pregnant. D, his brothers and the nephews all wore white button down shirts and me and my sisters-in-law wore black tops. Unless I'm turned to the side a bit the bump was really not super noticeable. Black is slimming!

@Ash: this.

I wore a black dress and I kind of regret it. It didn't really show my belly like i would have wanted. It wasn't the worst thing in the world but it could have been better.

I don't think it's morbid but I also don't think it accentuates the bump!

I have found the dress I love but it is in black, when I really wanted blue. I google searched maternity pics in black dresses and didn't find very many, but the few I found did look good! I was just wondering what is everyone else's take on this. Would you wear a black dress (in a style you love) for a maternity shoot, or do you think that is just too morbid?

Feel free to comment!
