I usually only buy far ahead if the prices are crazy. Like yesterday I got a bunch of shirts at JCP and had a $10 off $25 coupon, and the shirts ended up being .61 each. But I purposely bought short sleeves so they work for any season.

I bought a bunch of fall/winter stuff in 6-9, 9m, and 6-12 this summer and she can't fit in any of it. She's still in her 3m, 3-6m, and 6m, which are all summer clothes. So, she currently has like 3 weather appropriate outfits. I need to go shopping!

I also don't like shopping ahead, because I KNOW that when the season comes up I'll see even more stuff I want, and I'll buy it, and then I'll have too much! So I always wait and try not to overload at the beginning of a season!

I don't, because I am not really sure what size he'll be wearing! He is tall but super thin, so he might be in 12-18 month pants for a while...I think it's easier for girls because you can buy a dress, that can then become a tunic, that can then become a shirt! Easier to get lots of wear out of things :)

I buy ahead and also buy slightly bigger. DS is in the higher percentiles, so he doesn't fit in clothes that are for his age. (He's almost 3, but I buy 4-6T tee shirts depending on brand). When he was an infant he pretty much skipped the 6-9 month sizes and went to 12 months right away. I do a lot of sleeve/pant rolling, but lately I've been able to get a year or more of wear out of something.

Yes, I am a big buy aheader. We've been very lucky - A has run pretty true to size all along. I've had some misses, but definitely more hits. I've learned too to keep the tags on items so if they don't work for us, I can gift or sell. I have almost our entire summer wardrobe for next year bought already from Janie and Jack for incredible prices. Just last week I got a tank and short set for $10. That is what I would pay at Carters! I also got a bunch of Gymboree winter items on deep discount last year for $3 per piece. I can't pass up deals like that! I find I can shop at the better brands and pay the same or less than I would at Target or Old Navy.

NO!! Not any more. Unless it is $3 or less, NWT, or $1 or less used. I bought a ton of clothes that were on clearance when I was pregnant and LO wore NONE of them because he grew like a beast. So frustrating!! So, I keep in mind now that I'm not saving any money if he never ends up wearing them, even if they were cheaper :) (He is 11m, and now in 18/24m).

ETA- I'm so jealous of those who have "on track" and predicatable growers. My nieces were like that, still are at age 8, and my sister can always swoop in on end of season clearance
