in case this helps someone in the future using eucerin twice daily scheduled instead of just post bath and when we thought about it really knocked it out!

I would say it's Eczema. My son had that too behind the knees for awhile then in the elbows for awhile and thats what his pedi said. She recommended hydrocortisone mixed cetaphil applied generously several times a day but also important to keep the area dry from sweat. My son sweats a lot during naps and at night. I try to straighten his arms and unbend his knees when he first falls asleep. Then when he wakes up I wipe him down with a wet towel then moisturizer with cetaphil and hydrocortisone. It goes away for awhile then comes back every now and then.

I would just go to the ped. Anything that has been hanging around for weeks warrants a ped visit for me.

Thanks everyone... I guess I'll try lotrimin since I have some from diaper rash dash and see what it does! He typically doesn't have sensitive skin so it was throwing me through a loop!

It could also be a yeast or fungal type infection. I get something similar sometimes on my underboob. (TMI sorry) I second trying hydrocortisone for a few days and seeing if that helps.

I also agree with the eczema diagnosis since it's what my ped is constantly saying about my kids. I second the recommendation for hydrocortisone for relief, but if it doesn't bother him, it might not be anything to deal with right now.

My guess is eczema or ringworm. I would try lotrimin for a day to see if it's ringworm. When my son had it, it noticeably improved within a day or two. I find eczema takes longer to clear up.

It looks like it could be eczema like some other ladies said, but it also looks a little like ringworm - gross name, but it's a harmless fungal infection that clears up with Lotrimin.

I would also guess eczema. Inside of knees and elbows is a common place for it.

I would guess eczema...happens pretty frequently in those areas and the back of the knee and in creases. Lotion won't help if its a bad case...

My son has had this rash for a few weeks. He seems unbothered by it. It is located solely in his elbow creases. At first I thought maybe it was dry skin, but lotion doesn't seem to be helping. In the worse elbow it feels a little "raised" as in there is a different texture than the surrounding skin, but it isn't hives. He never touches it / scratches it. It has waxed and waned, but it was particularly bad this morning so I'm on the verge of a ped appointment. Figured I'd ask around before calling in to see if anyone had an idea! Sorry for the bad picture, he doesn't like staying still for anything!
