Any good recommendations for a sleeping bag for daycare. At 20 mths she's starting to climb out of her PNP during nap time. Is a toddler pillow necessary as well?

Thanks Ladies for all the great input! I think we have 2 gowns like this for right now and 1 that can be made like this OR with legs. I think I will try them out before I buy anymore to see if I like them! And thanks for helping me understand how to wrap them with the swaddle together!

@autumnlove: I believe it's Kate Quinn Organics (found it on Pinterest!)

I loved gowns the first two months. LO hated swaddling so we put her in a gown and sack.

Baby 2 needs that striped gown! Where is it from?

I love these, and would swaddle over them. DH hates them. It's impossible for him to hold LO in a dress without it being bunched up surround her armpits and neck. I don't know how he does it.

I didn't Iike the gowns at all. I didn't like the extra fabric, they kept riding up, and I felt like they inhibited her leg movements (if that makes sense). I much rather preferrEd the zippered footies. I kept a blanket at the changing table and covered her with it during diaper changes because zippered footies expose the upper body whereas the gowns don't. I say buy several of each and see which u prefer. You can always return the unused ones if u prefer one style over the other. :)

ETA: Forgot to mention that gowns don't work well if you plan on carrying LO in a baby barrier. You'd have to expose her legs whereas with footies, you don't.

Like pp, I loved the idea of a gown but they rode up so bad on DS. Zippered sleepers worked wayyyy better for us.

I think it depends on the weather where you live. Most pj's went to waste for us. I'm in FL so it's warm and LO usually just sleeps in a sleep sack now, and when she was a newborn it was just a swaddle and diaper. Nothing underneath

Occasionally in the winter we'll put something long sleeves under, but it's rare. .

I thought I would love the gowns as a FTM... I didn't. Sleep n plays (with zippers, not snaps!!!) were easier for us in the beginning. I like the idea of the gown but agree they were hard to work with my newborn with all the extra fabric.

i love gowns....so much easier for diaper changes. you just pull the elastic over the feet and they stay in place. just make sure to get the long ones. carters gowns are really long and stay in place. it doesn't really bunch up in a swaddle. i think there are a few brands that make gowns that snap up that you dont have to pull over the head if you are nervous about that, like this:

http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=18951967&RN=7198&

We loved these. I can't tell you how much I appreciated them for night time diaper changes. We swaddled with them and had no problem. Imagine there wouldn't be an extra fabric problem with a sleep sack. Though I admit I just don't know first hand, I just started using sleep sacks...don't make my mistake and wait so long to use them! :)

I didn't like them...they were fine for diaper changes but they just seemed kind of cold otherwise, and it's hard to get all of that fabric over a newborns fragile, squirmy body, especially while they are fussing. I prefer sleep and plays. But we did use the swaddleme the few times she wore a gown. The gown can go over the feet and the elastic holds it in place so it doesn't bunch up.

I bought several gowns like that for daytime, in NB and 0-3M. I figure we won't be leaving the house a lot in the early weeks, so gowns would be great for "everyday" for quick changes, etc.

I'm planning on just a side-snap tee and a diaper under the swaddle at night, since it will be so warm here (FL).

I've been hesitant about these kind of sleep gowns or sleep sacks (see picture). I keep reading that they are easy and helpful for night-time diaper changes. But confused on the logistics if you swaddle or put baby in a sleep sack too? Do you swaddle them in this kind of gown? Still put them in a sleep sack? Isn't there a ton of bunched up fabric then?
Maybe these are for when baby is older and not being swaddled anymore?

Sorry if these are such "newbie" questions. Can someone explain how you make it all work together for this FTM? And did you really like these kinds of gowns for your baby?
