I do the same but since I am cheap instead of buying a bin I use old diaper/wipes boxes. The hand me downs go to LO's little cousin but I save some of my favorites (in a separate old diaper box).

Same- bin system. Once the bin is full I sort by size/type then put away in storage. Whenever I see the stacks of clothes are running low- every couple of months or so, I start adding from the larger size bin. (I always have clothes from the next size up already washed and ready to go).

I bought a bunch of plastic bins from Costco and keep one in LOs room. When I find something that doesn't fit, I put it in the bin and when all of that size clothes are in the bin, I close it up and label it.

i do what alot of other posters are saying, keeping a bin in the closet that I just toss things in that LO is outgrowing after cleaning it. every other month or so, I'll go through it, label the bin, and start taking out the next size of things I have waiting for her (we get a lot of me hand me downs from friends). we are keeping all the clothing for our next LO coming.

I put things that she is out growing in a tote as she outgrows them. She is just getting out of newborn stuff, but some of the newborn items (especially pants) still fit. Brands vary in size so much that I just go by how small it is, rather than what the tag says.

I keep a rubbermaid container in the bottom of her closet. As soon as we realize that she has outgrown something it goes into the container. Once I realize that she is fully in the next size (say all 6mo instead of 3-6 and 6mo) I go through her closet and drawers and throw in items that we may have missed along the way.

At what rate does she seem to outgrow her stuff? Could you start sliding the clothes that she's been wearing for like, the past 2 months to one side of the closet, knowing it's iffy whether or not they'll fit? New clothes on the right, smaller stuff on the left?

I'm still trying to figure out how to do this with my closet! i put a polo shirt on today and was like, Nope, it's gotta go!

Obviously all kids grow so fast out of their clothes. How do you keep up with removing outgrown clothes? It drives my husband nuts when he gets her dressed and the outfit doesn't fit. I have tried to do both a semi-frequent clean out of her closet and to remove items one at a time when I notice they are getting small (after they come out of the laundry). How do you handle this process?

I know how you feel. My lo is still under twenty at nearly nineteen months. Yesterday at a party the skinniest lady I know said the same thing I have been hearing since lo was eight months old. She is sooo little. Anyway she eats a lot and is over the top active. I have to have these pep talks for me and my husband too. Doctor keeps threatening to do tests at the next checkup but then gives us 'another chance' and the the cycle of nerves about what she ate today and how much starts all over again.
Btw before six months my lo was huge and dropped fifty percentiles thru the months so that was the main cause for alert. But she really is strong and healthy other than what the chart says.

See, it works the same way when you have a big baby too. My LO is 4 months and the same size as yours and I constantly get:

Person: oh how old is she?
Me: 4 months
Person: oh, such a big girl! I thought she was older.

I had a lady tell me she was 2 months at 2 weeks old....

Anyway, its the opposite sitation but im just trying to say that i know how you feel.

Ugh, how annoying! That sounds like a perfectly healthy weight - not too small, not too big, so what is everyone talking about!? It seems like babies are getting so much bigger these days that maybe people are just thrown off when they see a baby that is a more 'traditional' (for lack of a better word) size. I know when my siblings and I were all babies (about 30 years ago), 20 lbs at a year was the norm, and that's what all of us were. 17 lbs at 9 months sounds spot on target to be around there so I really don't know what people are talking about.

You know your baby is healthy, your LO's doctor is pleased, and everyone else can go jump in the lake. Keep on doing what you're doing as it's clearly working out just fine for your LO!

My LO is also a small baby. She's around 14.5 LBS at 5.5 months old, and people are always commenting on how tiny she is. My pediatrician isn't worried about her weight, and LO is growing and developing just perfectly so I'm not trying to stress about it... but it's hard to not feel bad when everyone talks about how little she is :(

I have the opposite. My lo is at the 95% in weight. People tell me she is huge, which she is. But she's healthy! She's a good eater and that's a good thing. Of course I always worry that people will think I'm making my kid obese ..... but I feed her healthy food and they should just mind their own business.

I just have to get this off my chest. Baby X is a small baby--at 9 months he's 27 inches and 17lbs. The pediatrician assures me that he's absolutely fine, still within normal ranges for all measurements, etc. But in my head a chunky baby = healthy baby. So while I know it's not necessarily true, and I know that Baby X is totally healthy, a little part of me wants to cry every time a stranger asks how old he is... 100% of the time it goes like this:
Stranger: "What a [cute/handsome] baby boy! How old is he?"
Me: "Aw, thanks. He's 9 months."
Stranger: "Oh! He's so little!"
I then try to keep it together while making a polite exit from the conversation.

Rationally, I know that Baby X is just fine, that he's healthy and I should be grateful he does not have any weight or feeding issues-- he's thriving. But somehow I still find myself working to overcome the feeling that I've failed in plumping up my baby.

Anyway, just had to vent. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually. :)
