And actually converse are pretty great. The Velcro ones. They seem to have a heavier/harder/thicker rubber sole. THOSE we have def had for a year or so at a time. My husband just got sick of them because I rebought them so many times in same colors! But we still always have one pair on hand.

We do Nikes and one in particular we really like. I’ll find link they were recently on sale at Zappos.
We got him a pair in December last year and they lasted up until a couple weeks ago. Honestly might have lasted longer but my husband took him to a playground and he splashed in puddles and he forgot to take them out of the plastic bag after for a few days 🙄

So they lasted about 7months but that was with everyday wear including about a mile or two of walking every day (or scootering). We live in the city so we walk a TON. Plus outdoor playground almost every day.

Bonus they are very easy to put on (for adults AND kids).

I love our Keen sneakers. DD has had them for almost a year (I bought 0.5-1 size bigger) and when she grows out, they are in good enough shape I will save them as a play pair of shoes for #2. We will buy Keen for our next pair also.

I have even washed them 5-6 times. The only wear they are showing is the tread is wearing like a pair of tires would.

We tend to do Nike's for my son who is almost 4 but not the ones with mesh toes - those ones fall apart. He has to have the little plastic lip or a bit of plastic coating that extends up. For some reason he must scrape his toes a lot (maybe scooter riding) and the mesh ones get holes after days! So we learned that lesson quickly. He also beats up his natives pretty good and those have hung in so far!

These are the ones that are working for us right now:

I really want to try Plae shoes- I’m planning to get a pair before school starts. We have the saucony Jazz- not jazz light- I wonder if they are more durable because the sides seem sturdier? They are also a bit wider though, since the light ones were too narrow for my LO.

I have researched this a lot over the last few months because my son is really hard on shoes even though he outgrows them fairly quick. I have narrowed it down to New Balance or Asics, Asics is having their semi-annual sale right now too if you go that route.

Does anyone have a favorite, durable sneaker for their preschooler? We love the Saucony Jazz Lite, but they only lasted us about 6 months before falling apart, and that was even with us alternating 2 different pairs!
DS is not particularly rough on his clothing, but I would love to find a more durable sneaker for this year. He wears Keen sandals the other 1/2 of the year, and they hold up great. (He will be 4 soon, and is likely a size 10)

I'm searching for a fall sneaker for my son, who is 29 months.
He's been wearing crocs all summer and I love how he can be very independent with them! He knows how to put them on and take them off, and how to tell the right foot from the left foot.

Are there any sneakers that are also easy for toddlers to handle on their own? Of course, velcro is way easier than shoelaces but it still adds a layer of complexity. Are there any cute slip-ons that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

@regberadaisy: I just wanted to add that we have been through lots of winter boots and we adore Sorel. They stand up to really cold temperatures and rough play. The best is that they have a cinch at the ankle to customize fit and make sure they stay on snugly, and a toggle at the top (so at calf height) to cinch around snowsuit fabric and keep snow out. Ellie freaks if she gets snow inside her boots (I don't much care for the feeling, either), and if we are out playing and it's below zero I prefer her feet to stay dry. They do the trick.

@anbanan15: You stole it. But they are the AWESOMEST. Our kids play in poop on the regular (one of the perks of farm life?) and being able to wash shoes so easily is just the best. Mud, smells, you name it, it comes off like a dream and the shoes look brand new.

Unfortunately Ellie has discovered light up shoes. We do like Geox (she's had two pair now), but they would be much better if you only ever wore them indoors. They are cute and comfortable and very well made, but a pain in the tush to clean because they are all leather (well, pretty much).
