@cmomma17: @MUI831: Thank you. I was hoping not to have to go to a laundromat, but it might be the wiser choice. I'll just have to go looking for one - maybe in some apartment building? lol

If it's too big for your washing machine/dryer, you may need to go to a commercial laundromat and wash it there. As with pillows, I would throw a few tennis balls in the dryer to keep it fluffed up.

Has anyone ever washed their Snoogle/body pillow/Boppy? I'm trying to put things away in storage and want to wash some things before packing them away. I'm not too worried about the Boppy - I think I washed it once (I used a waterproof cover in between as well). But I'm worried about the Snoogle. If it will be hard on the machines and if the stuffing will get funky? But it's been in a bin in the garage and I'm not liking that method.

With my first pregnancy I slept on my back almost till the end and never felt anything different. This time around I really can't sleep on my back at all. It sort of feels like I'm not breathing well. I don't know exactly how to describe it except you will know when you can't do it anymore.

I can relate to having a back that feels best when I'm sleeping on my back. I think 3rd trimester was probably when I started sleeping on my side. I would often fall asleep on my side and wake-up on my back. I don't think it's a big huge deal.

i actually just asked my ob about this yesterday, and she pretty much said i "have" to sleep on my side. she told me that back sleeping decreases the baby's heart rate due to cutting off bloodflow. :( it made me so sad... sleeping only on my side has given me major hip pain! i'm just about 20 weeks, by the way.

My midwife said the same tin as @hilsy85 - when you feel like you are having trouble breathing, change positions.

She also said that if you lean back on a body pillow (as opposed to flat on your back) you should be ok. It was a relief because I am totally a back sleeper too.

I wouldn't worry about it! your body will tell you when it's time to move to your side. I stayed on my back until like 30 weeks or so, and then started feeling like I couldn't breathe if I lay on my back. So side sleeping started. But I really wouldn't worry--some people sleep on their backs their whole pregnancies, it's not going to hurt the baby or anything like that.

I've read that you should start sleeping on your side (preferably left-side) by the 2nd trimester. I'm a back sleeper with different injuries that just makes sleeping on my sides pretty uncomfortable. Bought a Snoogle, but inevitably, I still end up tossing the Snoogle off the bed and end up on my back sometime in the night. Going to ask my OB next week, but when is it really imperative to sleep on your side?
Did you sleep on your back or have trouble staying sleeping on your side?

I'm 28 weeks and I sleep on.. gasp... my stomach! (sometimes 1/2 between my stomach and side). I use a giant *regular* pillow under my legs, so my belly isn't smooshed into the bed. When I sleep on my sides I get very sharp rib pain, and when I sleep on my back my legs go numb.

Before you invest in pillows, try out the ones you already have. THEN, go get something that works better, but at least you know what your new sleeping position is.

@aunt pol: both babies are head down but we have a c-section scheduled. we still have the option to cancel but i'm still leaning towards just going with it - since i don't want to vaginally deliver one and have to do an emergency c-section for the other

I'm 26w4d and just the last couple days I'm feeling achy and it's carrying over through the night as well- I've some kind of muscle type ache above and behind my hips, very annoying. I can see how so many of you resort to the recliner for the last stretch- I was so comfy just relaxing on ours this evening, I can see it working! I find now I have to hold my belly to turn around in the bed, then rearrange my between knees pillow and my little wedge cushion for bump support... If we'd had all this crap in the bed six months ago I probably wouldn't be pregnant at all;)

I'm 28 weeks and I just used a regular body pillow, I bought it at Walmart. It helps, but I obviously don't sleep as good as I used to. But the extra support under my bump and having a little something between my legs helps a lot. I would have loved to try one of those pregnancy pillows - but too pricey for me :(

I'm 18 weeks and have had a snoogle since around 12 weeks when I had a stint of bad sleeping. I'm 5'8" so I still use a king sized pillow on the 'open' side of the C shape so I have support all around. Right now I use it a few times a week, but not every night. I really like it some nights, but other nights, the top of it really hurts my neck and I end up with a headache all day. I think I might need to force some of the stuffing out of the top so it's not so hard. I do think it helps me stay on my side though.

I'm almost 27 weeks and have been using a snoogle off and on since about week 20. I like it more now than before - but before I was having insomnia issues and everything was annoying to me while sleeping! I'm a small person (5'2) and DH is only 5'6 and we have a queen bed - I do feel like the snoogle is a bit big and takes up a lot of space, but it really helps me get comfortable and stay on my side.

We were away last weekend and I used 2 large pillows - one in front between my legs and one behind to keep me from rolling over, and I wasn't quite as comfortable and also ended up on my back a few times.

I'm 21 weeks and remember how hard it was around 17 weeks. Now I've gotten a little bit bigger so I don't have to balance as much as I did before. BUT, I realized that I still needed a body pillow. It arrived today! It's just a simple fat and straight pillow. For weeks I've been trying to buy the U shaped one but no one ships to my country except for Overstock and the shipping was as expensive as the pillow ;(

I bough a snoogle but didn't use it until I was around 25 or 30 weeks. I LOVED it for the end of my pregnancy. A pregnancy pillow might work but I'd try to arrange regular pillows first to see if that helps you. I liked a pillow between my legs & a pillow to hug infront of me by my chest.
