@locavore_mama: Thanks for the steamed egg idea!!! I would have gobbled it down but he is not a huge fan of eggs. I'll give it a try though.

@locavore_mama: @sweet_p: @Mrs. High Heels: And thanks for suggesting porridge -- that's what I gave him through 7 months to a year and he liked it . However I haven't tried since we pushed him off of purees into finger foods. I have started to make a little pot in my rice cooker this morning, and see if he'll eat it tonight.

@erinpye: I have tried smoothie before (when he was well), he won't drink it. So far he doesn't drink anything other than milk and water. Even juice box he'd drink a little bit and prefer water.

@Andrea: @autumnlove: Thanks for saying that, it makes me feel better about not doing anything special for this long :)

Just regular food and I make sure she drinks lots of water. She doesn't like soup or juice/smoothies sometimes too.

I was also going to suggest porridge... I do exactly what @sweet_p: does! If all else fails.... I give her bread, applesauce, rice... pretty much anything soft and easily digestible.

I was also going to suggest porridge. I make mine with chicken broth and add a lot of veggies and rice. Let it boil for awhile so everything softens up. What about a smoothie? You could do fruit or a green smoothie.

When LO is sick I make her favorite things every night and hope to hit the jackpot! For her that's soup, ravioli, any kind of pasta really, fish (she loves steamed fish, chinese style, like white bass. Last night she ate almost a whole fish herself!), quiche, broccoli. I try to offer healthy & nutritious things first and if all else fails carbs just to get some calories in her!

What about congee? Does your LO like congee? My LO also likes steamed eggs. I make her that when in a pinch for dinner. I have add in chopped broccoli (presteamed), spinach, dehydrated shrimp, scallops etc to add nutrition.

ETA: sometimes I try and try and she won't eat but more than a bite. Then I just make sure she gets fluids and trust that when she gets better she will make up for the lost appetite! And she usually does although when she is sick it's hard to follow my own advice. ;)

Hope your LO feels better soon!

LO won't drink soup. I do not know why. He won't even try to taste it, regardless if it were in a cup, a small cup, a straw cup, a spoon, or if we were drinking it and pretending it is the most delicious thing in the world. No.

So he is sick. I feel bad but I don't know what to make him other than the daily things (pasta, baked chicken, steamed veggies, yogurt, fruit). He has a cough, and I feel bad I am still giving him yogurt (in my culture it is said that it is not good to eat cold things when you have a cold - my mom would go crazy if she found out). What do you feed your LO when they are sick, other than soup?
