oops. hit the submit button too early :)

We went couple of years ago when there were "incidents" from North Korea. I was a little wary to go at first bc of all the media attention that it was getting but when we got to Korea, it wasn't a big deal. In fact, some one told me that the Western media makes more of a big deal than the actual people living there.

go to Jeju! We went last time and it was fun. LO wasn't born then but I went with my husband's nephews who were 7 months and 3 yrs old and we had a great time. Lots of stuff for kids!

@SPANIELLOVE "That's not unsafe. Philly is unsafe." - HAHAHHAAH. TRUTH. i lived in philly for a few months - my hubs lived in philly for 4 years for grad school (he grew up in the suburbs of philly) - i hated every minute of it (and i grew up in NYC!)

I would go. I have connections to a professional association of study abroad advisers and no one is cancelling their programs to South Korea and most universities pull out their students if there is even the slightest hint of risk due to liability. In fact, several people in that community have stated that the tensions between North and South have always been this way and that they don't see any indications that this time it is any different.

I have a few friends that live there are no one seems a bit worried about the N.Korean threats (which seem to happen every so often). The only thing I'd keep in mind is how muggggy it can be during summer! Flash showers are a common occurrence during summer. It's beautiful though and I think you'd enjoy it, but the heat and humidity is something to consider.

Obviously don't live there right now, but it's most likely pretty safe and people are living their normal lives. My grandma is there right now and my dad plans to visit soon. I was actually in Seoul a few years ago during one of the incidents with North Korea and I wouldn't have even known if a relative hadnt told me - everyone just went about their business as usual. Jeju sounds like a great time!

If I had the chance, I would go! I'm not too worried about what is happening right now with North Korea causing trouble for South Korean tourists. It sounds like there are lots of fun things you could get into there. Just go and have fun!!

So DH and I really need to decide what we are going to do.

One of my best friends lives in South Korea with her husband, who's in the Airforce. We want to go visit them and are thinking of going the last week in August/First week in Sept.

I'm "guessing" it's safe, because I don't think she'd still be there if it wasn't. But I'm still a little apprehensive. And I'm sure my mom wouldn't be on board with it at all...

I really want to go see her, and we're also thinking of spending a week at this beach area, Jeju. I neeeeed a vacation after all the crazy last few months I've had.

What would you do?

Any bees who live there right now who can give me some insight? I asked my friend if it's safe, but she hasn't really answered me. I don't want her to get offended by me asking again. She puts pics up all the time of the fun stuff they do there, so....?
