No baby catching for DH! lol he even has to lay down if he thinks about what blood pressure actually is! They were worried about labor so they hired a doula. Great decision for them! She had the unmedicated birth that she wanted, and she attributes it largely to her doula. Her husband was able to be supportive the whole labor though! Like if I even said the word placenta he's get nauseous. But he made it through the delivery. I made him promise that he'd stay in the room no matter what before I even went into labor because I knew he'd be questioning it when it came time, and I knew he'd regret it if he didn't. I wound up having my mom stay in the room to help coach me because he was an absolute nervous wreck, and unfortunately his mom in the room because he needed some comfort as well. Lol. Luckily he did fine and was even able to give me a play-by-play. I think when the moment hits and adrenaline is rushing, it's a whole different story. I'd say hire a doula and see how he does!! And now that he "knows" what happens, if he thinks about it at all, he needs to lay down! It doesn't help that my hospital requires twin moms to deliver in the OR whether it's a vaginal delivery or c-section just in case. He did beautifully. We let our L&amp;D nurse know ahead of time and she was fabulous about keeping him out of view of anything and giving him fair warning when needles were going to be involved so he could either look away or step outside the room. He opted not to cut the cord (which was fine by me). They reviewed what to expect with each type of birth, and during a video of an ANIMATION of a c-section, DH had to put his head between his knees. The vaginal delivery video wasn't graphic at all - you could barely see anything. I told DH it isn't really like that (two pushes and the baby's out, barely any fluids or anything visible) and he said he'd be fine. </p> <p>I'm not so sure. </p> <p>I've witnessed both c-sections and vaginal deliveries during my rotation in L&amp;D in nursing school. I'm not thrilled about the idea of a c-section just based on the idea that it's major surgery and I'm a baby when it comes to stuff like that (lol). I know, though, that I'd make it through just fine with the right amount of support.... but DH won't be able to support me if he's passed out on the floor. </p> <p>I have looked into a doula, and I'm meeting her this weekend. I don't want family in the delivery room with us. But I want DH to be able to be there for me.</p> <p>Any success stories with squeamish DHs? Did he pull through just fine or was he breathing into a paper bag during delivery? </p>
