I wouldn't use anything that old that's made of plastic and metal. If it was a non-drop side wooden crib, I'd be ok with it. But new pnp's are really inexpensive. Babies R Us has 3 for under $60, plus you can use a 20% off coupon.

@Weagle: That's good to hear, my MIL gave me DH's crib from when he was a baby, so '89. It's drop side but we made it so it's unable to drop, and put that side against the wall.

I would definitely push for a new PnP. However, LO sleeps in the crib that I slept in as a baby, circa 1987.

@evansjamie: @Foodnerd81: thats what i thought too, she claims its still ok because i was kept in the closet. I worry about the mattress on it and think we can probably score a better one at the swap my church has this summer. who knows i might end up with duplicates at my shower....

I already have my choice of 3 different gliders and rockers from my aunts

There's probably a serial number or name below or somewhere on the PNP. If you find it you can always call Graco and ask them. Personally, I would just prefer to get a new one for your parents. You can find really cheap PNPs that are great for parents/in-laws homes.

Yeah I wouldn't use that pack and play-- I'd rather have the baby sleep on a blanket on the floor. I'm sure you can buy one plenty cheap, too-- maybe check out Craigslist if not Walmart or Target or something. The one I registered for on Amazon is like $60.

I personally wouldn't be okay with a pack & play that old. Mainly because it's been in storage and you don't know what kind of bugs have been in it, coupled with the fact that you can't find the model number to check for recalls.

My parents and extended family are very excited that i'm expecting and my mom has gone out shopping and registering with me several times now. Her and my aunts are already pulling things out of closets, basements, and attics for me. My biggest concern is that my mom is planning on using the pack and play from my brother (which is about 20 years old) as a crib when we visit their house. I dont have the model number and cant find any recall information (original graco pack n play circa '92-'93), but is this safe? or do i convince her that she needs to get a newer model or we'll just bring one when we stay? I already told her to trash my crib (drop sides, and circa 1984).
