@mrswin: I'm in the same boat as you. Trying so hard to figure out my schedule but will hopefully know soon enough. I am worried about work too, I am a nurse so not really a low stress sitting at a desk job so not sure how it will all work out. Other girls have gone through IVF thought and told our managers and they were great about letting them take off the days they needed but I am not so sure I want to tell anyone. so I will probably just see how I feel.

I'm 90% sure it was 10 days of stims for me.

You may get lucky and have either the retrieval or transfer on a weekend so you don't need both days off of work. I lucked out with that. Monday was the retrieval and Saturday was my transfer.

I checked 10 days but it was really 10.5 (I was taking the Gonal-f and Menopur twice per day). On the 11th day, I took my morning dose, went in for monitoring, and then got the call to stop the stims for that night and the next day and to trigger that next day at 10pm.

All of my monitoring appointments were at 7:00am, so they didn't interfere with work. My RE recommended taking it easy/staying home the day of the retrieval and the day after, and then taking the day of the transfer off as well. I was fortunate that my retrieval was on a Friday so I had the weekend to recover.

@Shutterbug: I work at a desk job too but like @swedishfish: I know they do transfers and IUI's later in the day and often run behind so I will probably take that day too

I said 10, but actually, I think it's more like 7 or 8. There was a day they told me to stop since I was close to ohss. But I threw out all my notes so I'm not positive.

@Shutterbug: I didn't have to be on bed rest on transfer day either. But I still took the day off because transfers are done after retrievals and any other surgeries like TESE so they get backed up. I waited an hour and a half with an extremely full bladder. I was dyinggggg.

@mrswin: oh, for transfer day, my RE didn't have a bed rest requirement, so I actually just left work at lunch, did the transfer, and went back to work. I sit at a desk so it wasn't strenuous or anything.

@GreenThumb: @beachbee: @meganmp: @swedishfish: @abdubbs: @Shutterbug: Thanks ladies! My info sheet only says that stims will be 5-14 days depending on the patient. I should have clarified, I have been to the clinic for monitoring many times and it isn't an issue with my work schedule, it was more for ER day and transfer but I will likely just call in sick on those days

First time (antagonist protocol) I stimmed for 10 days.
Second time (agonist/lupron protocol) I stimmed for 9 days.

I also didn't tell work and just faked an illness on the day of ER both times. No one acted suspicious, but I was also able to make all my monitoring appointments early in the morning before work so I was only MIA for one full day (plus one day of WFH) each cycle.

I ended up stimming for 13 days. First night of stims was 5/23, we did a final shot mid-day on June 4th, triggered that night, had a blissful day off from shots the next day, and then retrieval was the following day (6/6). The last week of stims I ended up having appointments almost every single day.

What's most important to do early morning is your bloodwork, so they can get the results back same day. If it helps your schedule, ask your RE if you can do bloodwork at a nearby lab in the morning before work (a lab near me was open as early as 6:30am!) and then come in later (either your lunch break, after work, or whatever works for you) for the ultrasound portion of your monitoring appointments. I did this one day when I absolutely couldn't miss a single minute of work in the morning, and it worked out nicely.

I had 11 days of stims and then my hCG trigger on a Saturday night. Retrieval was Monday morning. My monitoring was done at 6:30-6:45 AM.

My boss knew what was going on. It made things easier because I had to take a day off during the first month of school and I just felt guilty about that.

I didn't vote because I can't find my paperwork anymore, but I had whatever their standard amount was, plus one day. I needed to go a bit longer because things were not quite ready yet. I was able to get ultrasounds scheduled at 7am, which helped with work.

I had 12 days of stims then my trigger the next day and two days later was my retrieval. I didn't know how many days of stims until our daily ultrasounds when they kept saying "ok, let's go one more day and see how it looks". It felt like every day we were going "one more day"! I did not tell my boss what was going on, but once I got the final retrieval date I told her I was having an Outpatient procedure and would be out the rest of the week (retrieval was on Wednesday and transfer was Saturday).

Oops, I voted 9 days, but recounted and actually I had 10 days of stims (Gonal-F, Menopur, Ganirelix protocol) before my HCG trigger. Then my ER was two days after the trigger day.

I know it is tough to figure this all out with work stuff. I didn't tell mine either and there were a lot of mysterious doctor appointments and sick days. I'm sure they wondered even though I really kept everything to myself.

Wishing you much luck!! :goodluck:

I am getting closer to starting stims for my IVF cycle. I am trying to figure out what my schedule may look like and how I can manipulate my work schedule. I will not be telling my bosses what is going on because it is a super small firm and it won't help.
