@Becky: Yup! We live near woods too😡.

We are all about the natural way so I’m hoping to at least minimize them!

Thanks!

We have always been completely overrun by stink bugs, and it’s especially bad during temperature changes. My kids are professional stink bug finders (not like its hard—there’s one visible at all times in any room in our house). You’re right regarding pest control: if you live near any trees at all there isn’t a point in treating because you’d have to do it every year. My parents have complained about them but I’ve just explained that while they’re annoying to see around, they don’t bite and getting the house treated every year would be more harmful to our health than seeing them around. FWIW my local Cooperative Extension recommended against getting treated, saying flushing them was the better option. If you’re concerned about water usage you can scoop them into a jar of soapy water instead of flushing each time.

One thing to do is not squish them. Scoop them up in toilet paper and quickly flush them. They’re attracted to each other’s pheromones which are released when you squish them.

@ineebee: Thanks, I'll try that!

@cake2017 At least here, it doesn't matter what kind of light it is, they are attracted to any light source no matter what type of bulb.

@Hypatia: @CatchAFallingStar: They are horrible! This week I made a soap and water solution and sprayed down the curtains. It seems to be working. Also, weve noticed that when we don’t have the heat on there are fewer????.... Lemon and mint candles have helped too. I’m looking for getting rid of them COMPLETELY though. We just moved here and it’s a new home they are here unfortunately. So tempted to do the foggers but I read they will cause more issues and they aren’t healthy for us so we are going to avoid them.

Hoping someone posts a great solution that works better than the above!!!!!

Omg stink bugs are the WORST!! I no longer live in an area with this problem, but I did a ton of research when I did, and I found that not a lot can be done. BUT! I did find that this DIY stink bug trap was pretty effective, especially considering it costs almost nothing. It says to use an LED light, which probably works great. I just put some fruit or something sweet at the bottom and that was enough to attract them.

https://knowledgeweighsnothing.com/amazing-diy-stink-bug-trap-that-catches-100s-of-stink-bugs-a-night/

Good luck! They are the WORST!

Anybody on here have experience with these annoying bugs?!
Ive been reading a lot on them but wondering if anyone else has experience or suggestions with preventing them/getting rid of them?

Pest control don’t suggest chemicals which we agree cause it won’t work.

They were bad during the winter and I am aware that it’s just going to be a nuisance during spring and summer....

any suggestion helps!

Please and thank you!!!
