Thanks for all the tips! I think buying a cheap CD player and checking out the CD selection at our local library is probably what I'll do. But even CDs seem to be going to the way of the dinosaurs. My laptop doesn't even have a CD drive anymore. It's crazy to think about how quickly technology has advanced, and yet I don't think it's always for the better!

We have my old iPod that we filled with classical music that we have connected to a very old iPod speaker. It was one that I had gotten for free from somewhere...but it's not any specific brand name. So we have a super old generation iPod hooked up to it that shuffles the songs and plays pretty much all night for LO2.

Ooh good question! I'm following. I fell asleep to stories on tape for years and loved them (I was 9-13) at the time though. LOTR, folk tales, fairy tales, etc.

The cd stories make sense. You could buy on iTunes and burn to cds if iTunes sells stories on cds. Libraries have them to borrow too usually.

My libraries have lots of kids' music CDs and books on CD. My son and I regularly check out children's and other music CDs for the car (he's currently on a Beatles kick thanks to Beat Bugs in Netflix). Just a quick search on Amazon provides tons of CD players under $25. Would that be an option?

OK, help me out mamas... when I was a kid my mom had an inexpensive cassette player in my room and every night she'd play a tape for me as I fell asleep. The tapes were just songs and books on tape that she'd check out from the local library. What is today's equivalent of that??? Technology was supposed to make life easier, but I don't feel like sticking the expensive Bose wireless player in my son's room and monkeying around with trying to find audio tracks on Spotify or iTunes. I'm nostalgic for the days when you could just pop in a tape and hit play. I'd love any suggestions for a simple nighttime music/audio routine! Anyone? :)

I don't know my number but I can only imagine it was very low- like 0, probably. My cervix was clamped shut, very firm and far back. I had two Propess pessaries and it took me 4 days to get to 2cm. They broke my water but still labour didn't kick off. I had maximum syntocin which was pretty intense but I managed to give birth vaginally with no epi and no pain meds, only nitrous oxide gas to relax me.

I am guessing my score was under 6 because I had two days of misoprostol prior to the actual Pitocin induction. I had to get my water broken and got an epidural but there were no complications. I got Pitocin around 11am and delivered before 6 pm.

I have no idea what my score was, but I had pre-e, so I went to be induced at 38W. I was 0cm, 0%effaced. I started from nothing, and was given cervadil before pitocin, and ended up with an epi. I began the induction at 4pm on a thursday, and had the baby just before noon on the next day. I did get the epi only an hour or so before I had the baby.

I don't remember, but I think I was 6 or 7 and my induction ended in a c-section. I'm not sure that there was ever going to be a way around it though. I had GD which caused an unusually high level of amniotic fluid, which kept the baby from descending, which in turn kept me from dilating. I had days of on/off "early early labor" as my midwife called it, and I dilated ~1cm on my own. But no matter what they did (foley catheter, pitocin, breaking water) I didn't dilate past a 3. After 20 hours of contractions we called it and went for a c-section. No regrets :).

She was awesome.
